What's the nicest thing you've heard someone say about you, or overheard

Peaches, 16 July, 2008 at 11:44 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 48

C'mon, it's too depressing thinking of all the nasty things people have said about us.

What's the nicest, most warm-inside comment someone has said to you, or about you which you were told or overheard?

..... I'm still thinking about it! ?

I smiled at a man with a small cute child in front of me at the checkouts. The toddler then turned to his dad and said 'That woman's really pretty, daddy' and his father replied 'yes she is, isn't she' and gave me a grin.

    It really made my day.

I was told that I have the "most all encompassing hug ever" - it's really stuck in my mind as a nice thing to be told, even though I think she meant your boobs are enormeous ?

    By my best mate:

"You are a fantastic person. You are so sweet and kind, thoughtful and understanding."

"Just know that I love you, and I will do anything to make you happier."

This was when I told her about my marriage woes, we've been friends for about 15 years.

Lots of people admire my blue eyes too, even the relate counsellor Mr Platty and I have been seeing ?

And of course SLD has said lots of nice things to me since I've met her ?

"You make plenty of people happy my lovely, it's your nature!"

Ya I know its so ? its vomit inducing but I don't care hehe

I was walking down the street once (aged about 17 at my lowest weight I had reached) and was wolf-whistled by a man in a lorry. Made me feel really good about myself. Could have been something to do with the short skirt though. Who knows!

When I worked in a club whilst at Uni, a drunk girl told me that if she had a nose job, she'd ask for a nose like mine. ?

I have just started a new job and have had to travel and work in Heathrow.

The people here are so friendly, and some of them have said some really lovely things to me.

One of the lads said I have a cute smile, and that I have a fantastic sense of humour, ahhhhh lol

One of the other guys told me that I have the most amazing eyes his seen.

One of the girls told me that I wear colours (as in clothes) that really suit me.

That made me feel so good!

At a school reunion about (please bear in mind I am older than you guys!) 25 years after we had left school. Annette, the coolest girl in our year that had the best boyfriends and started all the trends off and the girl that we all wanted to be more than anyone else in the whole world, said to a whole table of people that she had just admitted to her best friend that she really wished she had turned out like me!!!

Maxiemax, who had wanted to be Annette for the entire 5 years at secondary school was finally cool/whatever enough that Annette wanted to be me!

I used this as an example to my 13 year old the other day who was crying and saying how the other girls in her class dont like her and they sit at the back and she is the only one who puts her hand up to answer questions etc, I pointed out that her time will come and it will soooo be worth the wait!

When I first came househunting in the town in which I now live, I was getting my parking ticket from the machine and bloke came up to me and said 'I just want to tell you that I love what you're wearing. You look great'.

A year later when I was very fit (sob, those days are gone) I was trotting through town in a strappy denim dress and a guy came up and said 'you look gorgeous in that dress'.

This has just reminded me of a work's do the other week, when I overheard one of the girls saying very loudly to one of the agents "I'd sh@g you if you weren't married" ?

I can't think of anything nice I've ever overheard. Although after H & I got engaged, I shed some lard and one night when we were out, one of his friend's friends said I was looking really fit at the moment, not knowing H was with me. H was rather chuffed!

An ex boss once wrote in an email to someone else "Carrot is the most intelligent PA I've ever had and she deserves the biggest pay rise I can give her". I loved her!

An email from my now H: "You look cute with your hair like that" (in a ponytail, unwashed...)

I got told I look like a young Sienna miller recently. Extra lovely as am older then actual Sienna Miller. However, its so not true I can't really delusion myself with it ?

Actually I have been todl lots of nice things recently, but I think people generally do to brides. Apart from one guest who said "ah, its like shrek" when I walked down the aisle ?

Being told I look like Geena Davies was nice (and much better than Sideshow Bob/Mick Hucknall)

I tend to only remember the crap things tbh. but some bloke once told me I had hypnotic eyes. which come to think of it might have been an insult as it conjures up images of goggly eyes ?

a bloke I had a thing with told my mate I had great tits. not exactly poetry. ?

I've lost count of the times people have come up to me in shops or in the street to compliment me on my shoes and clothes. I don't think I'm that much of a fashionista, but perhaps I live and work in areas which are sartorially unenlightened ?

It's always nice, though, to have strangers give you a compliment on your taste. I'm big on shoes. As Jim Carrey said, whatever takes the focus off your head ?

You are evil... I love it when they say that or something along those line ?

We do get a lot of nice comments about our work and that always gives me a warm fuzzy feeling, knowing our work made somebody happy. Got an email this week that said:

"Oh what can we say? You two are heavenly! Are you sure you're not two angels in disguise? But seriously My wife and I are so very impressed with your professionality, your excellent level of service, sheer dedication to your art mixed with with your courteous and overtly friendly approach to work. Everyone who had anything to say about you said you were lovely. Thank you so much. We are still honey mooning...but I felt I just had to let you know how very impressed we were..."

Erm, I'm not good at remembering the good stuff.

SLD told me on an email this morning that I rock. ?

On the way to Mum's wedding, a man stopped us and said to Mr W "I'm not coming on to your wife or anything mate, but she looks gorgeous. That dress is lovely. I just had to cross over the road and tell you." I felt fabulous all day.

On Flickr sometimes I've been told I'm pretty when I post a self portrait...what people don't realise is that it's about the 100th attempt and heavily processed. ?

Isn't it nice that people say lovely things? I saw a woman in the street the other day who was really beautifully dressed, just so stylish - now I wish I'd said something to her.

My stunning sister Juliet was in a shop once and a man accosted her and said: "You are the most lethal woman I have ever seen." I think that's a fab compliment!

H told me I was the love of his life. That nearly had me in tears.

A theatre critic called me "attractive" once and then in another review referred me to as being "on firecracker form". That was pretty cool.

And a friend said that I was the glue that held our friendship group together. Bless.

I think the nicest would be what H said to me on our wedding day, but thats far too fluffy and soppy for hitched!

Today my midwife said I was "positively glowing" and that "pregnancy suits you", which is nice as I feel like a whale at the moment and a very tired unattractive one at that!
