What's to do??

Houdini, 26 May, 2009 at 13:34 Posted on Planning 0 9

Ok, I thought I was really unorganised but speaking to my parents after they got back on holiday, it seems I have most things under control. I know I am ridiculously organised and impatient but was wondering what I've missed!

My H2B is also really quite sad that all main decisions have been made which has made me feel bad - although it's not that I've done anything without him, all decisions have been joint other than my dress! - it's just that he thought it would all last a bit longer... (minds out of the gutters ladies! ?)

Right, here's what we've done:

STD cards (to be sent out Aug 09 giving a years notice)

Dress and suits found (to be ordered nearer the time)

Bridesmaid dresses found (again, to be ordered nearer the time as all little bridesmaids)

Chair covers

Photographer

Videographer & music for DVD

Venue & music for ceremony etc

Hotel for night - staying at venue

My jewellery - my something 'old' as using my present from when I was cbm for my sister

Make up lady (H2B's cousin)

Table plan (must have been the easiest in the world; all our families seem to come in groups of 10 or 5's which can be sat together!)

Wedding vows

Decisions made but not bought yet:

Favours

Children's activity packs

Thank you gifts

Centre pieces

Cake

Still to do:

Honeymoon (left firmly in H2B's court)

Invites & RSVP's (We have someone working on a design that we can then get printed free)

Wedding rings

Hair / veil / accessories

Name place cards

We're not having flowers, although maybe corsage's for mums so we need to look into them. Surely I'm missing something huge?? DJ comes with venue, as does toastmaster. Will add anything else I think of but help would be appreciated!

Ceremony and reception are at the same place and we're both getting ready there so no need for cars.

    Thanks though!

Table centres? Hen / stag parties? shoes?

I don't think there is much more that you can do at this stage. You could spend a lot of time researching the HM though.

I thought I was having seen everyone elses lists but now I've gone too far the other way! I got scared I was highly unorganised but work slow = me spending all day lurking on WP and coming up with ideas! You wouldn't believe how far back I've gone with post reading!!

SK: Table centre pieces are on the list. Shoes I should have put with jewellery - wearing ones used from when i was cbm as they cost far too much to only wear once!

HM I really want to leave to H2B - niether of us care where we go as long as it's hot!

Think I need to leave everthing else till after Christmas - dammit...

Have you checked to see that ALL outfits are going to be available 'nearer the time'??

remember stock/designers change so often that I have often read a story about someone wanting to order something thats no longer made or the company are no longer in the biz?

    Step.away.from.the.wedding.planning!

you have 14 months - you're not going to have anything else to do for the rest of the time if you do it all now!

I am hopefully ordering my dress next month and when I first saw it I did check that it would still be available in June (had already booked second appointment as was 95% sure this was 'the one' but didn't want to buy in the first shop without going elsewhere) and they said they marked dresses that were being discontinued in the next 6 months. So only about 10 days until I can order that (6th June appointment)

Men's suits are being ordered through Jack Bunney's and have already spoken to the person on here who works there in the men's thread that they will still be available in Feb (which is when they can be ordered for hire). So that's them

Bridesmaid dresses are from BHS and I can't order them now even if I wanted to as my bridesmaids are currently 6, 3, 2 and 16 months and anyone's guess how much they'll grow in 14 months so will have to take my chances with them. If they don't have the exact same thing then they'll have similar (hopefully or it's back to the drawing board on that one).

Believe me, if I could order it all now I would just to be on the safe side as I know what I want! Need to learn to be less impatient but it's all too exciting!!

Make stuff!Smiley smile or find stuff cheaper

You could make a wedding postbox? or orders of the day/service (ok early for the writing but you could design the outside). Research flowers for your mum's corsages?

How are you going to decorate your cake?
