What's underneath

Future Mrs Gough, 20 June, 2011 at 19:30 Posted on Planning 0 15

Hi all,

What are you all wearing underneath your dresses? I had a look round at bridal lingerie and only a couple of things (mainly basques) have caught my eye. I am now toying with the idea of wearing a corset as I think this may be better. Is anyone else thinking of this? And if so, does anyone know where to look for some nice ones?

Thanks

I was thinking what to wear underneath too. Not really auspenders type so won't be needing the basque with all the attaschments lol! I like corsets but I think that combined with a tight fitting dress will be the most uncomfortable thing ever.

I have my dress already but it doesn't have boning. So I was thinking that a corset may hold everything in as I have a lot of boobage too x

Same as above. I went to M&S and they measured me etc and told me what would work best (turns out i've been wearing C's when I should be a DD!). They were really helpful and picked me a lacy white strapless multiway bra with a white pair of waist cinching pants which are fab! Not glamourous but im going to change out of it before...ahem!

You can't wear a corset for your wedding if you've never worn a corset before. They are just too restrictive. If you are determined to wear a corset you need to but it at least 3 months in advance and wear it in for at least an hour or 2 a day to allow your ribs to get used to it and for the corset to take your shape. Corsets have steel bones and will completely alter your shape and size, no good if your dress is already fitted anyway.

If you are talking about the lingerie stuff you get in high street shops thats not a corset!

The Gok range is supposed to be good if you're looking to smooth lumpy bits though. Personally I find basques annoying as the plastic bones just bend or dig in. I'd go for lacy bra (if you need one with your dress) & knickers under a standard wedding dress - you'll get too hot otherwise.

    I will be wearing this

My dress isnt fitted or boned, but I personally wouldnt wear a corset etc on the day as I will get too hot.

One of those mega push up strapless wonderbras for me! And either some sucky in shorts or a normal pair of knickers depending on how the exercise goes!

I'll be wearing a strapless bra, thongs and an amazing pair of magic, support tights from M & S. I know this sounds disgusting but my dress really skims my hips so if I don't have a smooth silouette I'll look lumpy!!! ?

    I'm sure my hubby won't care! ?

Not got my dress yet but planning something heavily boned and corsetty so don't want a bra at all (I have a few corsets already and it's fine without a bra even tho I'm a 36H). I am hoping for some pretty yet comfy pants.

I bought a white strapless bra from Debenhams and duly took it to all my fittings, however on the day I ended up not wearing it and I'm so glad. My dress was boned and I didn't need the support if anything if I'd worn it, it would have just made me uncomfortable all day.

Whatever you decide make sure you take it to fittings to make sure it sits under the dress ok, if it doesn't work then you can take it back and try something else at your next fitting
