What's wrong with my laptop? Dull

Clairy, 8 September, 2008 at 09:11 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 6

It was working perfectly OK this morning, then it ran out of battery. I have plugged in the charger and - nothing. No charging lights, can't switch it on etc.

I have checked it's plugged in properly at all ends, but it appears to be. Has my charged broken? Can I get it fixed, or will I buy another one?

The only thing of note I have done differently is plug another laptop's charger in, just to see if it would work. It didn't. That couldn't have knackered it, could it?

Plug the charger in and try turning it on with the actual battery taken out. If it still doesn't work I'd guess it's actually your charger what's knackered rather than the actual laptop. It's happened to mine twice now.

Hmm, have put my other laptop charger in (different manufacturer, but same sized hole) and that doesn't work either, with or without battery. Any ideas?

[clutching at straws] When the first charger of mine broke, I swapped the plug end of the charger with a spare one I borrowed from a cd player and that kept it going for a few more months. Might be worth a try as I know replacement chargers can get quite expensive!

I don't think my problem was anything to do with the charger, if that helps......

My laptop was on one minute (plugged into mains) then turned off and I have never been able to turn it back on again!

Actually I might be being a bit dense.

Is it just your charger that won't work? Could the fuse in the plug have gone?
