I got stuck on this one, then a friend said she would lend me a sixpence, and then gave it to me! Then put my name on the list on here for a sixpence but not sure if this is still happening. Then Wednesday I found out my mum have a sixpence that was my nan's so I am going to ask if I can use this!

I'm finding borrowed the most awkward thing (not that I'm totally hung up about the poem anyway but it would be nice to have something).

I don't really have anything in mind to borrow, and no-one has actually offered anything yet so it seems a bit cheeky to say 'can I borrow your...'

I borrowed a sixpence from my (cool) Nan and then gave it back for her to lend to my little sister one day.

My back up was to borrow a hair-pin or even a borrow a broach and attach it to the ribbon around my bouquet.

I was really stuck on this one too so my Auntie has lent me her lucky peseta that she's had for years. It's stitched inside a bow on one of my shoes and I've a sixpence stitched inside the bow on the other shoe lol

Am hoping to borrow a veil from someone, I've had a few offers so it is just a case of finding one that will go with my dress (when I've found it!)

I'm stuck for most of the poem!! The only thing I have so far is something old, which is the necklace I'm going to wear (was my grandmas but he gave it to me about 10 years ago). Think my something new will be my garter, but no 'something borrowed' or 'something blue' (although my theme includes blue, so that should be easy)

Whats the story behind the sixpence? You all seem to be mentioning it :/

Vanilla pod, I like your quick thinking!

For borrowed I'm having a cake knife that my parents used when they cut their wedding cake, my gran has been keeping it in her drawer for years.

I've just realised I haven't got anything for Blue though......... Ideas welcome!

I had a garter but knew it would irritate me so didn't bother wearing it. I had painted my toenails blue just in case!

Thanks pandorasbox, that sounds ideal :-)

Also, been having the same thoughts about a garter but thought it was one of those things that had to be done!

I asked my mother in law if I could borrow sthg and she lent me her late mother's lace hanky, which was pinned round my flowers.

My others were: old - my late grandmother's ring, new - dress etc, blue - a diamond and tanzanite pendant we bought the day before.

    I borrowed my sister's garter.

For whoever asked (on the previous page) the rhyme goes:

"Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue and a silver sixpence in her shoe"

The last part is often forgotten but, as I understand it, the father of the bride is supposed to place the sixpence in the bride's left shoe.

I'm borrowing a little pin from one of my best friends. Its a little blue cat so will be borrowed and blue. I bought it for her originally as she got married abroad and I wanted her to take something from me so I was there in spirit on the day.

Someone leant me their garter but I have bought one which matches my underwear...hence why I am still stuck on this.

I like the ring idea...I might ask my mum if I can borrow a ring to wear on my other hand or even a lip gloss.

How long do you have to "borrow" an item for? Could I give it back straight after the ceremony?
