My dad and I danced to Father & Daughter by Paul Simon.... my dad's always been a Paul Simon fan and the lyrics "I'm gonna watch you shine, gonna watch you grow, gonna paint a sign, so you'll always know - as long as 1 and 1 is 2, there will never be a father loves his daughter more than I love you" were just perfect.

I'd love to dance to Celine Deon because you loved me. But like you I can't listen to it without blubbering lol.

My friend had the same problem. And she played it for me and I welled up too. In the end they chose something different but I can't remember what - sorry no help!

If we have a father-daughter dance, I imagine it will be 'Jilted John'. It's completely inappropriate and blooming awful, but it's our song.

I like the idea of having a beautiful and touching father-daughter dance... but that's not how we roll!

Mmmm... sometimes the father/daughter dances are very emotional so need to be played at the right time.

You could choose a lively song that you both used to love when you were growing up. This can then be played anywhere during the evening and still be announced. You can then grab your dad and party away....without floods of tears!

Well my dad is known for dancing to Jackie Wilson's Higher and Higher once he has had a few too many. I think we are going to make a joke of it and dance to that. we both arent the type to do a slow dance lol

Sorry to hijack the thread (slightly!) but for those of you having a daddy/daughter dance, when are you planning on doing it? Or when did you do it? I can't find a place to have it where it doesn't feel like it would be awkward...... ?

I'd quite like Daughter by Loudon Wainright III, I was thinking of having it later in the night perhaps after 1st set of band, as the first song of the DJ set? Then can be followed by some more party songs from DJ before band come on again.
