What's your exercise routine?

FutureMrsWilson, 13 June, 2011 at 08:09 Posted on Beauty & Wellbeing 0 9

What are you doing to reach your weight loss goal?

My current weekly routine consists of -

Monday - 2 cardio classes, 1 conditioning class
Tuesday - 1 hour gym machine rotation, 1 weights class
Wednesday - 1 cardio class, 1 hour gym machine rotation + free weights
Thursday - 1 weights class, 1 hour gym machine rotation
Friday - 2 cardio classes, 1 conditioning class
Saturday - 1 weights class, 20 minute jog
Sunday - Rest

I try to get in 1 hour swimming each week (I hate swimming) and aim at 10,000 daily steps outside of my gym activities.

    Wow you seem very dedicated!!

    I do;

    Tuesday - zumba

Thursday - gym (45 mins cardio, some power plate & light toning weights)

    Saturday - pilates

I also try to do my gym session an extra time each week and go swimming once a week but I've not got set days for those as I fit them around OH/kids etc.

Daily i walk to work and back home again which is 25 mins each way.

I try to go on the exercise bike for at least half an hour a day. 15 mins morning and night and more if im feeling energetic. I also have a weight twisty thing (technical term obviously) which tones your mid section and do reps of 20 of those for as long as i can be bothered before getting bored.

FMW your exercise routine sounds menacing, how do you cope???

When I was trying to lose weight for my sister's wedding earlier this year, this was my routine:

Monday - Step class 1 hour

    Tuesday - Zumba 1 hour

Wednesday - Dumbbell Workout - 45 mins then sometimes Pilates straight after

Thursday - sometimes an extra Zumba class

Since my sister's wedding, I've completely given up, because my next goal of my own wedding is still so far away. I have zero motivation unless I'm really up against it, so I will resume this and probably more next year.

    Hi There!

I am using a website called Sparkpeople.com. You can monitor your calerie intake, weight, measurements, fitness activity and general feeling of well being. I swear by this website and lots of my workmates have joined up aswell - its all totally free and very motivational.

At first I went mad and was running 5km twice a week but I injured my knees and ankles after only two weeks (impact injuries- not surprisingly). I now run for 20 minutes on the treadmill and do free weights for 40 minutes three times a week.

I dont have time for the gym so I do these in the dining room at home whilst my 3 kids are eating their evening meal. This means that I am still with them at their meal time and can hear all about their day- but I am training so I am not tempted to eat their leftovers! There is also the added advantage that they now remind me (and nag a little) if I am not changed and ready to run when they sit down to eat!!

I have lost 10lb in six weeks. I am hoping to reach my goal weight in time for the big announcement (only our parents know so far) at the end of July.?

Wow that's a HECK of a lot of time exercising in the OP! Put's me to shame and I thought I was reasonably active!

I've recently started using an app on my phone called my fitnesspal which monitors your calorie intake and exercise etc it also syncs with a website and sound similarish to what Barbara is using.

My routine at the moment is...

Monday -45min tap dance class and 45 minute stretching/toning exercise and streetjazz dance class straight after.

    Tuesday - 1 hour zumba

Wednesday - 90 minute zumba (fairly high impact)

Thursday - 1 hour zumba (most weeks).

Then nothing really until Monday unless I fancy digging the xbox zumba or dance games out. I'm a bit of a dance/zumba'holic, it's the only exercise I stick to and actually look forward to doing. Can't stick to going to the gym. Because I love dance/zumba so much I'd be doing it anyway, whether or not I had a wedding coming up which I think is a good sign.

OMG - I am so impressed by you all! I was a member of our gym from September until the end of April and started feeling a long fitter and better in myself. Unfortunately, to save money for the wedding, I have had to stop my membership and am finding it really hard to keep that fitness level up. If anyone has any tips or motivations then they would be much appreciated!

OP - what a schedule, have you been able to keep it up?

I go to Body Pump on Mon, Wed & Fri. It's enough for me, I feel that it's important to have a day off in between. Especially with weight training to allow the muscles time to repair.

I don't know really, it's just become second nature. I'm 250lbs, so I'm probably not giving as much as fitter people in the classes/gym but I'm building up a good sweat and I always feel it the next morning.
If I've worked extra hard in a Pump class I won't do any weights until my next class, and I always have a protein shake after each weights workout.
