What's your groom wearing?

Mrsbeevers2b, 21 June, 2012 at 15:25 Posted on Honeymoons & Getting Married Abroad 0 4

We're not sure what to do about the mens attire, were going to get married in Greece next June. I dont want all the grooms men to be all uncomfortable and lathered on the photos but I do want a really formal wedding, no linen. The options are either a full suit or just a shirt/waistcoat?? What is everyone else doing?

For the women we're still having full bridesmaid dresses and wedding dress just in lighter fabrics than normal, but I just dont think linen is smart enough to match the womens outfits.

Opinions please???

xx

    Hi Mrsbeevers,

How's it all going? Have you got all booked up now & got your wedding date set? In regards to the men my H2B didn't want linen for that very reason & although it will be very hot in Sept he still wanted to look smart. So we are hiring cream trousers from the wedding hire shop, which are light fabric(not sure what they are made of but they feel light) & they are having shirts, cravats & waistcoats. The shirts are long sleeves as for some reason they don't like the short sleved ones but will probably roll them up later. They will keep the cravats & waistcoats on for the cemerory & photos but will probably take them off shortly after that.

    Cheers fawny

    Hi,

Were also getting married in greece, having the ceremony later on in the day though so it wont be to hot!! Smiley smile

My OH wont wear linen either as its not quite smart enough for him at his wedding, he is going for trousers and a wastecoat as a blazer would be wayyy to hot!! not tie either, just a cravat!! Smiley smile

he is changing into shorts and Tshirt at the reception though, which i dont mind, dont want him partying the night away while sweating to death! lol xxxx

I'm getting married in Spain in September. My boys (hee hee) are having suits from Formally Yours. They're great value. They're having the grey Prince Edward (https://www.formallyyours.co.uk/range/jackets/4/) which is really smart but, being grey, won't be as hot as some of the darker suits. I imagine they'll have their jackets on for the ceremony and take them off sharpish after that!

My OH is a suit geek!! He loves suits the way women love shoes. We're getting married in Rome in September which has the potential to be really blooming warm!! He's insisting on wearing navy which will be boiling as he wears grey suits for work and wants to be different (fair enough). I suggested linen but he says even though it's warm he wants to be more formal than that. Good thing he's got 2 years to make his mind up. We're visiting this September so he can get a feel for it and possibly think twice about wearing a 3 piece suit.

Thanks everyone, think it sounds like everyone is on the same page with this. Linen isn't formal enough but the prospect of sweltering isn't anything to look forward to. I know the wedding will be from 4pm onwards so its not going to be like in the full sun, but First Choice have said that I won't be given the exact wedding time until we get there. It could be anytime between 4-9pm, the later it is the cooler its going to be I suppose. I think the guys are going to have a very light grey suit. I'm planning to take him scouting for this soon while the summer weight suits are in the shops because with us leaving in May I don't want to have to buy one at the last minute.
