Whats your Groom wearing? *Flash*

*libby*, 19 February, 2011 at 14:07 Posted on Planning 0 22

What are your grooms, ushers etc wearing?

We bought Black dinner suits as h2b doesn't like full on tails etc and they were cheap enough to buy rather than hire.

My mum wanted them all in tails etc saying 'oh they will all look the same as the other guests' but I just want him to be comfortable.

Are any of you having your men in dinner suits or normal suits?

This is the suit jacket but with Red 'normal' ties for the ushers and maybe the BM, FOB and H2b in 'wedding' waistcoats and cravats to please mum!

My OH also hates tails too. Doesn't feel comfy in them at all. We bought him a nice suit, which he is chuffed with as he'll wear it again. We're getting married in a hotel too, and it's not a stately home or country pile, so tails wouldn't look right.

MIL2B was unhappy about it (I think she's got used to the idea now), but at the end of the day the last thing I want is an unhappy, uncomfortable groom!

    Think your suit looks lovely!

My OH tried on tails looked like a penguin so all the males in the wedding party have got prince Edward cut jackets.

H2B's suit is going to be very non-standard as it will be pale blue! We are keeping it a secret as we both love it, but know that there will be a few raised eyebrows if we tell anyone. Try not to listen, your H2B has to be comfortable and happy on the day and that is the important bit! (oh and him looking handsome too)

Ours had hired suits. They were 3 quarter length jackets but not full on tails.

H2B still has to go and get his but I think he is going to go for a darkish grey (no tails). His waistcoat and cravat are ivory and sage green so should go nice together.

Question - are the best man and groom supposed to wear different coloured waistcoats and cravats or the same?

Whatever you want. My H wore the same as the best man and the ushers. They were all exactly the same. The shop did ask if he should wear a different colour tie but at the end of the day, the guests know who my H was so why would he need to wear a different colour? But if your H wants to wear something slightly different to make him stand out, it's your wedding so you can do what you want. x

Personally I hate tails and top hats, I think they are tacky. Im sure your groom will stand out no matter what he wears- after all its his day!

    MrMini has a suit from Paul Smith, its a bit like this one but darker brown;

Which he is teaming with a pink paisley shirt Smiley smile

We're going abroad so my OH will be wearing a linen suit and short sleeved cotton shirt - finding one is a problem this time of year, nothing in Debs or Next at the moment x

Has anyone seen a groom in a different colour suit to the rest of the bridal party?

h2b saw a nice (darkish) grey suit that was similar style to the rest just the colour difference. Would this work as he wants to look a bit different ??? He would still match with the accessories.

    This is ours:

We didnt want tails or Prince Edward so went with short jacket. We also didnt want a fancy waistcoat which proved to be quite a problem with the traditional suit hire places!

We ended up ordering it from an online company 'Formally Yours' but means the men have to measure themselves! Should be interesting...

Non of our boys are wearing the same suit. They may end up with the same tie but apart from that there will be no matching at all. I think it actually looks a bit harder to distinguish the groom if all the boys are dressed the same?

Oooh, we booked ours yesterday. Mid-grey three piece with short jacket. Ivory cravats for ushers, gold for groom and BM.

Edit: can't upload a pic for some reason?

Well we are going for something a little different, no tie! Probably this blazer and maybe some smart chino type trousers. I know it's not every ones choice but even though he isn't wearing a tie - much to my mothers annoyance! I still think he will look very smart

All the men are in Black Prince Edward suits:

With OH in a claret ruche and claret diamond-pattered waistcoat and the other men in Gold ruches and gold diamond-pattered waistcoats.

We haven't been to the shop yet so not sure what he'll end up with but I have my eye on a dark grey morning suit, with either matching dark grey waistcoat (If they do them) or an ivory one with light sage green cravat.

This style, without a top hat, they look stupid!

If they don't look right (My H2B is a bit vertically challenged) then we'll go for regular length suits, like this, although they wouldn't be my first choice as I think they're a bit business man like esp when teamed with a regular tie.

I can't stand the long straight suit jackets, I think they look awful and like they don't fit ? -

The brown suit with the red is one of mine. ? ?

The bloke with the stick looks the spitting image of Hugh Jackman in The Prestige. (it was on telly last night).

Fred2reh, I love the striped blazer! It will look great. ?
