I'm destined to forever have a surname that no one can pronounce. I'll be Mrs Athienitou - feminine to his Athienitis. I quite like the idea of double barrelling but with my long first name it'd be too much hard work.

Mine will be Biddlecombe...I've not warmed to it yet as my other half always has issues with forms and call centres. I much prefer my maiden name (Fraser) and as I have already changed my once once (deedpoll - long story and Fraser is my mums maiden name) I am loathed to change it again....the things we do for love!

I know how you feel! I am going to be Mrs James, which amuses my family somewhat as my son is called James. However I hate the fact that his ex is still using his name and lives quite near us, goes on facebook under that name etc. Only good thing is she is due to remarry next year so she will at least change her name then

I'm going to be Mrs Oates although I'm sure I will still be called by my Maiden name for a long time as I'm a Primary School Teacher and they have got very used to using this lol.

Im with Tizzie on this i cant wait to change mine from my maiden name (i dont see my dad) and want away from it as its very unusual and everyone always comments on it that and the link to my fathers side of the family who i have no link to. Anyway my married surname will be Clark Smiley smile Mrs Clark so normal i cant wait and it will be the same as our two boys too.

2 Weeks exactly to go! eeeeep!

I have been very strong willed about this...I am not changing!

I dont have a problem with his name its my feminism that won out! I love my surname and my children will be having it as a middle name if not a surname as I believe there should not be a given that they get the man's name, im even planning (if I have a daughter) to give her my mums maiden name as a first name "Tilly" and if we have a boy we also have a maiden name from his mums side we love as a first name "Austin"

I get huffy when people call me Mrs ..... now!!!! And all my friends and TOG know I wont be being addressed as Mr and Mrs..... on the wedding day either! Start as you mean to go on!

I don't think I'll be changing mine. If I do (and that's a big if!), I'll have my maiden name as a middle name and use it at work and most important places. But I'm certainly not giving up my name – if anything, I'll add to it.

Makes me so sad to talk to women who don't want to change their names but get guilted into it by old fashioned men. Why is it even an issue for guys any more? It's 2012 - it's a choice, not a requirement! My fiance can't fathom why either of us should change our names unless we want to and I feel so lucky that our families don't mind at all, otherwise I'd probably end up changing mine for a quiet life.

I will be Mrs Turner, sounds kinda old because I think of it like his mum but we're getting married the same year as his brother so there'll be two of us ?

I like the idea of taking his name, and when we have kids they would get his name so I'd be the same.

Can understand why people dont though, especially when you've made a name for yourself. I'm just quite traditional.

    I will be Mrs Randle.

However, I'm still not all that comfortable with it, as myself and my brother are the last with my dads family surname (if that makes sense), it seems a shame to narrow that down to just my brother! Although obviously if he had kids that would change. I'm possibly going to raise the subject with my OH nearer the time, but I know he'll be offended ☹️

I'm going to be Mre Pickering. I am happy to take his name but did brooch the subject of double barreling as I have a big close family all with the same surname and will feel a bit disconnected from it (all my cousins etc are boys and I have mainly uncles with wives) But he wasn't keen.

I'm happy to be Mrs Pickering but as my first name is shortened to Nikki I can see me being Nikki Picky or something.

Might just keep my maiden name at work though as I'm a teacher and everyone knows my name!!

I am keeping my surname - to change my name because I am getting married would honestly compromise my values and beliefs, so it really is not an option and never has been

I have no 'identity' attachment to my name really - I have already changed my surname once, from my dad's to my mum's, when I was 15; I decided it was unfair that all of us had my dad's name, so I changed mine to even it out a bit ?

I can't wait to get married and change my surname. I don't get on with my father and once I'm married I'll finally get rid of the last link to him.

I would like to keep me surname as I had changed it by deed poll a few years ago to my dad's (he'd not my real father, but has looked after me since I was 3 months old, now 33 years old), But I will probably chane my name to my Partners. I will become Mrs Robinson. I think like some else said, it does seem strange to write it down.
