What's your opinion on Table Cameras?

sherbert, 19 January, 2010 at 12:29 Posted on Planning 0 22

I haven't really been that impressed with the pics from table cameras that I have seen in the past, and was thinking of not bothering with them. What do you think? Are you having them or not? Thanks x

I think they can be a great idea and capture parts of the day you may miss, but like you say they shots are not always great, my mums friend had table cameras at her wedding and didnt get to see any of the pictures as the guests just took them away!!!!!! how bloody cheeky is that?!!!! so it may be worth saving your money and put it to better use? x

Im with Kirsty on this one. I will def be having them. Guess it depends what your guests are like, I know my friends and family will make the most of them and take some good fun shots.

Hi we arn't having them...I went to a friends wedding aabout a year ago and they had table cameras and she said it was a waste of money they only got a few good pictures with them. Most of my family and friends will be using their camera so I've asked if we can all share pictures.

But I suppose its personal choice.

    Thanks

I'm afraid i'm going against the majority here and think they're a complete waste of time and money... ?

People just start taking random pictures of anything and everything and then half the time they're left with a lot of pics still to take.

I'm with claire on this one. Most people own a digital camera and in this day and age of t'internet its so easy to share piccies. From past experieance I've seen table cameras in the hands of the children, so suspect there were a lot of floor and ceiling shots which could be a massive waste. Also, even if there are table cameras available, I've seen guests using their own cameras in preference.

We had one on each table and on the whole got some really good pics. There were a couple that didn't turn out brilliantly because of the light but we found that people were really good and it gave us a more 'relaxed' view of the reception.

Im definately having one on each table, I think its a great way of getting pictures you wouldnt normally have, Im making sure that I have at least one sensible person on each table so i have half a chance of getting good pics haha

Digital or Instant [Polaroid type] cameras are available to hire as table cameras, they make far more sense than disposables - at least you have a zoom, flash, video clips and a delete functions with digital table cameras which reduces the risk of hundreds of duds.

Instant cameras are more expensive to hire but are excellent if you just get a couple and use them to make an 'on the spot' guest book with the pictures.

Just google "digital & instant table camera hire uk"

I was going to have them but after reading this thread I think some very wise points have been made against the expense of them.

Like Claire said with Facebook and everything these days you will have absolutley hundreds of informal pics for your friends and family to choose from and as these are digital and if they are particularly nice there is so much more you can do with them. I would rather spend the money have the best pics turnt into DVDs for everyone.

Not sure about the original poster- but I am certainly swayed against now!

Thanks for all your replies I think I'm definately against the idea now, I'd rather spend the money on something else and as some people say most people will have their own cameras anyway. I know I always take a camera when I go to a wedding.x

I'm not bothering, i will be asking for the pics from digital cameras to be sent to me though. Last wedding i went to with digital camera, the kids took them and the bride and groom had 30+ pics of a dead fly!

Give blank cds to everyone with digital cameras and ask them to send you a copy of their images.

Much, much better than table cameras!

I would say to give it a miss, there is plenty of other things to spend your money on, at the end of the day pretty much everyone at the table will have their own cameras.

I'm having 2 disposable cameras for the flowergirls to take pics (they're only 3 but 1 takes better pics than me!) n putting cd's on a table asking people to put the pics on n send it me back.

When my dad n stepmum got married they did the same with the cd's n got a couple of hundred pics back, lots were of the same thing but gave them the chance to see the informal pics. they got it down to about 50-60 pics good enough for an album
