What's your something old?

Cooky, 16 August, 2011 at 21:44 Posted on Planning 0 31

I've pretty much finished buying all of the new and just wondered what your something old was. I haven't thought about it yet.

My hubby to be! Lol I shouldn't say that really, I havent got my old yet, I'm being passed on the family blue garter so that kind of kills two birds with one stone, new will be everything I'm wearing so I just need to find the old too, sorry that was no help at all!

Although saying that, as it's the family garter it is old too, three in one, sorted for me I think. ?

I've got my Grandma's pearl necklace (though I'm wearing it as a bracelet as my neck is too fat!) which is also borrowed from my sister. OH says that I can't use one item for two things, in which case my ER will be my something "old"

My Nan's first wedding ring - hoping it's a good omen, they had been married for 64 years before Granddad died this year.

Mine is a St Christopher of my nan's, she died when my Dad was 5 so never got to meet her but apparently im the image of her and have her personality! Thought it would be a lovely way to include her in our day, I wanted something of my grandads too as he died when Dad was 8 so never knew either of them but unfortunately I cant get my Dads family to admit to having anything never mind lending me it !

But I will not give up!

I had an antique silver cross that I stitched into my dress. I got stuck on borrowed and with half an hour to go before the ceremony, gave my daughter a safety pin that she kindly lent to me and I returned to her afterwards. Hope that wasn't cheating!

Mine was a ring my nan gave me that used to belong to her.

it was opal which is both of our birthstones so it doubled up as my something blue!

My something old is my dress- it's vintage! Also my engagement ring, that is also vintage.

Borrowed is my Mum's pearl necklace. New is tiara, bracelet, shoes and veil. Stuck on something blue, don't want to wear a garter. I have a hanky with my inital monogrammed in blue, may shove that in my bra!

SUrprised it took until page two for the hitched sixpence to get a mention!

What about an old pair of earrings of your own or an old bracelet of yours sewn into the lining of your dress. Noone says how old 'old' should be

Either my great-grandmas diamond ring or my FMIL's gold bracelet which she gave me as an engagement present. It would be a lovely gesture to wear the bracelet but it really isn't my style and doesn't go with any of my other bridal jewellery. The ring, on the other hand, I ❤️

My sixpnce is old. Plus I am using an old bag I have blinged up but don't know if that counts as it won't come to the church with me, but be at the reception.
