What's your theme?

Sarah-March-2013, 9 January, 2012 at 12:19 Posted on Planning 0 33

I'm pulling together bits and am interested what everyones theme is and what you are having to illustrate it?

Mines is pink and ivory roses. It wasnt intentional really, I got an Ellis dress (11135) that has roses in and it just kind of went from there. I'm having pink rose bouqets, pink flower girl/BM dresses with ivory rose bouqets. Ivory flower cake. Pink and ivory disposable cameras with a decorated camera box for guests to pop them into at the end of the night. Pink champagne/pink lemonade as an entrance drink. I'm trying to find pink flower shoes but I have to wear a smaller heel so I'm struggling to find exactly what I want.

For centre pieces I'm not sure. I like a lot of vintage ones so am trying to steer my theme towards rustic, vintage shades so I can have milk jugs/birdcages etc. Have seen lovely photoframes with cream/peachy flowers and fancied putting quiz style questions about is in each little photo hole.

Not sure about favours!

Indulge my nosiness! Flashes necessary ?

Our theme is just "us" but with a glam vintagey style. So anything we really love has made up our theme.

I love vintage bits and pieces so thats the main style of it all, with a bit of glam thrown in. My dress isn't really vintage but its beautiful romantic style in heavy satin so it kind of looks a bit vintagey. We're also having bunting on the cake table, gold LOVE letters, and the whole reception is an old country house hotel which is just gorgeous.

We are having garden games, because we're big kids and we love giant garden games.

We love afternoon tea and barbecues, and being outside, so our reception is a country house garden party.

I love lavender plants so we're having lavender (the actual flower, not just the colour) in the flowers.

Some of my favourite colours are pale green, purple, pink and blue so we're having those colours.

We have a huge, fantastic family so lots of family photos are going to be included throughout our day.

We have a bit of a private joke about the hymn Jerusalem so we're including it in our ceremony.

We collect rubber ducks so we're going to have rubber duck bride and groom cake toppers. That's a surprise for D, I told him he couldn't have them.

Its all about us, so thats our theme!

    Heres my flashes too btw...

These are my flower girls dresses, they look really shiny and cheap in the photo, not sure why. They arent in real life, they have lovely net over them and look like they came from a bridal shop (even tho I got them in the very sale for £16 each Smiley smile...

And I got these in monsoon to go but I'm not sure if I'll use them, I grabbed them because they were a bargain!

    Ours is yellow flowers.

It all started when we decided to have yellow as our colour scheme, and it just kind of snowballed! We are having six tables, all with identical centrepieces except that each centrepiece will have a different yellow flower at the centre of it, and each table will be named according to the flower in its centre.

Vintage for me too! Ours is 1920's (think Downton Abbey!). I have Anoushka G's Louisa dress, with a sparkly alice band and a long necklace of pearls, my 2 eldest daughters (19 and 16) who are bridesmaids have fabulous dark purple silk gowns with black faux fur stoles and my youngest daughter has an ivory dress with faux fur stole aswell. My H2B has a black pinstripe suit with black shirt, ivory waistcoat and cravat, complete with pocket watch Smiley smile

Birdcages and roses for table centre peices, couple of rose ball trees, martini glasses filled with flowers and cake is white with dusky pink and purple flowers. Invites were handmade on parchment paper to make them look old.

The best bit though is my first dance, my grandad who passed away 4 years before i was born was a brilliant trumpet player, he played in a dance band in the 1930's to 50's. I've recently come across a very old recording of him playing at a local ballroom with the whole band so we are using it for our first dance. I never knew him but from listening to family members talk about him, its a chance for him to play again. doing what he lived for, playing for an audience and making them smile Smiley smile

    Hi,

We are also having a 'vintage glamour' theme. This was inspired by the sort of Audrey Hepburn, rat pack, jazz singers, swing type feeling, but not really a specific era, more the feeling of the older elegance as opposed to todays glitz and glamour.

There are also more minor elements of pirate and geek themes!

We are having purples and ivory with pearls, and elements of vintage inspired rock chick for me and the bridesmaids.... having written it all down it seems like a right mishmash, but honestly it works!!

My dress isn't technically vintage, but has that sort of feel to it, and I'm having it altered to add a bit of a slight steam punk type feel I guess (I hope), BMs are in 40s/50s inspired outfits (different styles in the same fabric) adn the chaps are in tuxes adn evening tails for the groom and BM with bow toes and cummerbunds in the same fabric as bridesmaids.

I guess out stationary is more early 1900's in style. we are usimng alot of old wquite ornat guilt picture frames for things liketable plans and bits of text that we like, and out table centres will be different cut glass bows and vases with flowers and pearls

We are having a high luncheon style buffet for the wedding breakfast and bbq in the evening, and are also having a garden party with garden games!

We don't have a theme as such but our colours are dark green, cream, silver and pale peach (for the flowers) with lots of sparkles and butterflies.

Really excited about our centrepieces, I am getting fish bowls with moss in the bottom, pussywillow twigs and fake peach roses and then some gorgeous little fairies and butterflies in amongst all the foliage like a mystical woodland theme!

Our theme is PARTY! ? After church we'll be having a garden party, then a dinner party and then it'll be the after party. We're hoping to make a differentiation between the three parts but generally the theme is going to be fun. We could never go for anything sophisticated with our two little boys running around ?

Ours is being based around how we want people to feel at the wedding - so have worked around the theme understated elegance.

Classic but relaxed contemporary feel - with a bit of fun in the evening.

We are having a horsey theme to our day, i am arriving to the church on my own horse, my invites, table plan, tables etc are themed with horseshoes, ive collected my old horseshoes, sprayed them up silver & am going to decorate them with ribbon & pearls to match my dress then have them hanging up in my marquee reception.

My OH is a betting man so we have named the tables after Grand National & Cold Cup winners - there are some very beautiful names too!

Our colour theme is red and white with flecks of black. I am afraid i am going to be having a bit of a girly theme as i am having butterflies as my theme.

For my center pieces though i am having similar idea to Juppy 2b but with clear gel beads and a red rose but i seen an idea using white sand instaed of the gel beads so may do that yet. I will be making my own paper butterfly confetti to scatter on the square mirroe plate along with red rose petals and scatter gems in clear and red one a few black.

Garden fun in native spring/summer colours so pinks and purples. Hopefully it will be a flowerfest but that's up to OH's green fingers, oh and the weather. As we're on a tight budget a lot of our friends are contributing in various ways and I'm sure this will enhance the 'feel' of the day and make it more personal and special. Partly down to the kids but also as OH hates pomp and fuss we're trying to make it a short-ish, relaxed day.

This is her, she is the one on the left! I never turn down an oppertunity to show her off!

And another pic...slightly fatter in the middle of summer! This is her summer coat so this is how she'll look on my wedding day (which is in September 2012), just hopefully a little fitter & slimmer! lol

Aww Shell, she's lovely, how exciting! I always dreamt of riding to my wedding since as a child a daughter of a big LLoyds bank boss rode to hers on 'the' black horse. My horse never happened, but I still love them.
