I'm just wondering what everyone's view on guests wearing white, imparticular ladies wearing white dresses at weddings?

I went shopping with my best friend the other day, and she saw a white dress on sale that she loved. She tried it on (with a million other dresses) but this was "the one". I told her it was fine if she loved it that much to buy it for my wedding, but after half an hour of debating she left it saying she wouldn't have liked if anyone had done that to her on her day.

I'm not a traditionalist and our day will be far from formal. I want everyone to feel relaxed at my wedding, and that does include what they're wearing. But, despite my lack of traditional values I must admit I did hope that she wouldn't buy it.

What's everyones views on this?

It's the one thing I'm really bridezilla about - I would never do it to someone else, it is just plain rude. I know that my FSIL has done it in the past, and one of my bridesmaids has volunteered to be on red wine duty! ?

I've worn cream dresses on several occasions to weddings. None of them have ever looked bridal, I've always worn different coloured accessories and I don't believe I've offended any brides along the way ?. I really don't give two hoots about others wearing white to my wedding. Just hoping the MIL doesn't turn up in leggings like she did at my SIL's wedding.

Wouldn't bother me

Although it may bother me more if I was wearing white, which I'm not! Although I'm not fussed if anyone turns up in grey (my dress colour) as it will be obvious who the bride is - especially as everyone there will know the happy couple anyway!
