You can usually take it out up to 2 years before your wedding date, but I'd do it ASAP if you have booked a venue. There are loads of insurers, you'll need to do some homework.

Get it as soon as you start booking things if I was you.

We werent going to get any, then someone said to me "You insure your £500 holiday" so why wouldnt you insure something that is so much more expensive Ha

So we went with Debenhams Smiley smile

I'm still thinking about wedding insurance (we haven't bought anything yet). I took out a credit card to book things with and then just pay off at the end of the month, figuring that instead of using the cash we'd have some comeback with the cc company if anything were to go wrong. Should I still be having wedding insurance on top of this? And how much does it cost? (Our total wedding cost will be around £8500, if that makes a difference?)

    Sorry to hijack!!

Agree with what others have said... As soon as possible really. We bought ours before we paid any deposits.

I think you can only be insured 2 years before your wedding day. Not 100% sure on that though.

Depends who you go with, but between £30 and £100 depending on the level of cover and excess.

I'd get insurance ASAP especially in this economic climate. We went with E&L and it only cost us £26 for around £8k cancellation cover plus quite extensive suppliers cover - worth paying for the peace of mind.

I have a question about wedding insurance, ours is a "destination wedding" In Greece, costing in total about £7000. Do I insure for the cost we are actually paying, or for the cost we would incur if for any reason our Greek wedding had to be cancelled and we had to rebook a wedding in the UK, which would cost a lot more?

    Any advice?

    thanks
