When do you meet the people from your venue again?

Mitzi50, 5 September, 2009 at 09:23 Posted on Planning 0 6

We booked our reception venue back in about January time. We havent really heard anything from then since, other than a letter confirming we have paid the deposit and they will contact us nearer the time. Well when is nearer the time? I want to start doing a few more bit but cant remember some little details about the room we are having the breakfast in, and dont know whether they have there own fishbowls/vases i can use for centrepeices, and places i might want flowers ...planning to meet the florist next weekend, and we havent seen any menus...

When did your venue start getting back to you and arranging these things? Am I being to keen!? We have 9 months to go but i am worried that nov, dec, and jan will pass in a christmas blur!

Thanks in advance for any advice! x

We're having an 'official' meet with the wedding coordinator in December- 4 moths before the wedding. but I'll be booking to come and have a look probably next month some time, I can't really remember the space and need to have a good look at decorating options - same as you. I posted this question a while back - some hitchers have been back to the venue several times. I wouldn't wait for them - just book to come in and have another look, or book a meeting if you need to discuss/have questions etc.

We booked ours in May and I have been exchanging emails for all the questions I need to ask them, one lady has been very helpful and even measured the diameter of the tables for me. I have been there once since with my balloon lady to see what could be done. The next time I actually have to meet with them is 6 weeks before the wedding date to discuss numbers and food etc.

I've got just over 7 months to go and the venue said we needed to meet 3 months before to finalise the menu. I had e-mailed them a load of questions I had and have arranged to go and meet them in a couple of weeks to run through all my concerns.

I think most Hotels are the same that they will arrange a meeting with you any time you want to run through stuff.

I booked my venue in March and paid a deposit. Apart from meeting the deadlines for the payments I will have no contact them until about 1 month before. If I have any problems with anything of want to ask any questions I can contact them by phone or email, but if I want to I can arrange another meeting with them.

I think most venues tend to leave you to it until much nearer the time but are available to answer any questions. Don't be afraid to call them when you need them, most venues organise weddings almost everyday so they will be able to help with just about anything. x

We booked our venue last August, we had a meeting with them at the end of May and then we another this Monday (approx 3 weeks before wedding day). They say that there should be no need for any further meetings but you can arrange them for a fee. The lady at our venue (Whittlebury Park) is very helpful and always replies to e-mailed queries promptly.

I think that the standard appears to be approx 3 months and 3 weeks before wedding day.

Thanks ladies. The lady we met was really nice so i think i will drop her an email with my questions and then maybe arrange to go and see her in a month or so. im not very good with not knowing all the details, i think i could put up with 3 months before the wedding to sort things but not 6 weeks, thats a little fine for my liking!
