When do you put up your Christmas tree?

Today my facebook has been flooded with people making plans to put up their trees this week. I know I'm a bit of a scrooge but surely this is far too early!? Do you have a set date that you decorate or is it just as and when you find the time?

Growing up it was always whenever mum could find the time. Some years on the 1st, some on the 24th!

Since living with OH, we try to do it somewhere between the 1st and the 12th as we love enjoying it, but might put it up earlier this year as we are having a Christmas dunch with friends on 30th =)

    Its too early just now!

when i was little, we would put it up the afternoon after I broke up from school so mid dec. we usually do it around then.

I would like to have it up beofre the baby arrives so it might be a maternity leave task in a couple of weeks!

Usually the second weekend in December depending how the dates fall. I'll probably go for 14th December this year. It takes so long to put them up I like them there for a good few weeks at least.

We usually wait until H has had his birthday so we would be putting ours up on the weekend of 14th/ 15th December. We usually only put up a tree up once every two years though as we are away for alternate Christmases.

I feel a bit sad about going without one this year as it will be the first Christmas in our new house, so I think that I will get one anyway even if we only see it for a few days!

Ours will be first weekend of Dec.

When I was a kid the tree wouldn't go up until after my dad's birthday - 15th Dec!! Which in my opinion is quite late.

Last year was the first time I got to do a tree. When I lived with parents none of us were allowed to help! Dad's a major control freak when it comes to the Xmas tree. Everything must be in it's place! But it does always look good.

When I lived in a house share I was never involved in the tree ☹️

Aww that's sad. Everyone needs to have fun helping with the tree! Glad you can enjoy doing your own now Smiley smile
I remember me and my brother spend ages on the tree to surprise my Mum coming home from work, we were so chuffed with our work and she made out she was delighted, but the next morning we came in and she had re-done it..we were gutted ?

Ours usually goes up on the 20th, the day after my middle son's birthday a)because it's chaos when people keep popping in and out with his presents if we have all the decs up and b) his birthday is before Christmas so we celebrate that and let him enjoy his festivities before we go onto the next round.

I'm not sure if we'll have one this year though. Our house is being completely re-wired on 12th and we've been told to allow at least 5 working days for that to be completed and then we have the delightful job of trying to decorate top to bottom to get it habitable again in time for Christmas.

At Mum's it was always 12 days before, 12days after. Last year I think it was around then. Although it lasted about an hour because the kittens decided they didnt like it....

I want to make the house a bit of a grotto this year because I don't have a scrooge telling me I can't! So I will probably start on 1st December ? I have a Lindt advent calendar that I have been so looking forward to.

Ours is going up on the 1st this year as we are treating that day as kind of like an unofficial christmas day as A is leaving us on the 4th for 3 weeks.

We're going to get the tree and decs up, cook christmas dinner with christmas CD's and then watch christmas films in the evening. I cant wait.
