when do you send save the dates ?

We got engaged in October with a July date. I didn't want them to get lost in all the Crimbo shenanigans so I waited until the end of the first week the kids went back to school. Thought it would be a nice treat when all the festive fun is over and everyone has the January blues!

9-12 months before the wedding date

It's 11 months till we get married. I'm thinkking of sending mine in the next couple of weeks or so.

We're getting married on a Friday so want to give people plenty of notice as well as the fact OH has family in New Zealand so we want to let them know as soon as poss.

I get married in 52 weeks and 6 days... mine have been going out in dribs and drabs for a couple of weeks now but they'll all be out by next weekend which is exactly a year before the wedding.

Ooh Icklefee i think you are the same day as me?! I get married 53 weeks today! My ticker says 1 yr 6 days as it's the Sunday we marry

Sending ours out next sunday/monday ie a year before.

I'm the Saturday 3rd May, our 6th anniversary ? , otherwise we'd have had the Sunday because my venue was cheaper lol

Aww so close! Yeah we wanted the Saturday but there was another wedding in the church on the Saturday so Sunday it is! At least it's a bank holiday - long celebrations!

I'm trying to wait until Oct so a year before but I've had them made already..I got over excited the day we booked the venue hah. My immediate family are demanding them now (nicely of course) as its been a long time coming! We will have been together for nearly 9years when we finally get married. I might cave as they are magnets so will come in handy! Lol x

I've made mine, problem is we NEED to book somewhere before i can send them out lol. As soon as we book somewhere I'll send them out. How long do you leave between save the dates and the actual invites? Do you send save the dates to everyone invited to ceremony and reception? That's what I was planning on doing..but don't know what to put to make sure they know its the day/evening/all they need free?? I was going to abbreviate, but even though we all know what the OP means, writing STD looks wrong!!

I think generally it's just for the day guests.
