When does the engagement shoot happen before a wedding?

Is say have it sooner rather than later. If it's crap you've still got time to cancel.

if we'd had more time that's what we would have done after the engagement shoot.

We tend to do it somewhere between 6 and 12 weeks before the wedding. It depends on the time of the year, whether it's an indoor or outdoor shoot, how busy we are etc. But we're very flexible and happy to do the shoot earlier if the couple prefers it.

Mine are flexible. They can be any time between booking and a month before the wedding. If the couple have kids they can have a family shoot instead. I recommend those are done in the 1-3 months before the wedding so the kids still remember me well for the wedding day!

At this time of year I steer couples towards early May as I live by a beautiful forest where bluebells grow in May.

When do you want it? ? First time round, I had the shoot 4 months before the wedding. This time it was 2 weeks before.

I am with Paula on this......totally flexible, although springtime through to late autumn is a great time for using colour to add to the day.

We're doing ours in summer as we're travelling to scotland to do it, and its when our tog is free!

We're having ours in April for our August wedding.

An engagement shoot?

Not heard of that before, what is it and what is the purpose of it (other than more photos of course!)

Ours is end of March and we get married 20th June.

The purpose is to get used to the photographer and having your photo taken, try some different poses etc so you feel comfortable on the actual wedding day.

Ours is 2 weeks tomorrow & we're getting married in May

We tend to recommend 6-8 weeks prior to the wedding where possible as then everything you've done is still fresh in your mind. It does vary according to when you're getting married though and your photographers availability I imagine. For example, we're totally booked for engagement shoots this year aside from a couple of April dates. After that it's the end of September or October onwards.

If you plan to use the photos for Save the Dates or anything like that, usually it'll be not long after booking. But as with most things, it's likely to be flexible ?

We did ours in june 2013 and wed feb 2014. it gave a nice difference between the sunny, flowery engagement ones to the dark, moody winter wedding ones- perfect ^_^
