When does your venue kick you out?

hshc86, 17 May, 2010 at 14:51 Posted on Planning 0 8

Hi ladies,

The OH and I have found a place that we would love to have our ceremony and reception at and for a price that we can afford, the only thing is, is that I noticed on their website today that they stipulate that all music must end by 11pm and guests must be out by midnight. we both feel like 11pm is too early for the wedding party to effectively end. I've e-mailed the venue to ask if there is any leeway with this, but if there isn't then we will have to look for other options Smiley sad

Do any of you have the same stipulations from your venue, if you do, is it a problem for you and if it is did you ask if you could extend the times?

Ah, this has made me sad now. Suppose I shouldn't have done but had kinda gotten my heart set on this venue. I've just been doing a venue search again and can't find anything that I like the look of that is within our price range Smiley sad

My wedding goes up till midnight but to be honest if it was the venue of my dreams I would give up an hour to have it. Also alot of guests will probably leave around 11ish anyway, if not before. What time were you thiking of carrying on until??

TBH i think that is about a standard time. Don't forget you are going to have been up since the crack of dawn and you will be quite stressed so personally (coming from a girl who enjoys clubbing til 5am!!) i think that your reception ending at 12pm is about right

Personally i would still book it, Most places i have seen have a midnight cut off time, some allow music untill then, some have a cut off slightly earlier like yours, maybe because of neighbours?

I have my venue for 24 hours but because ive booked a band, and they only play for so long, our live music will actually finish at 10:30! followed by fireworks then the bar will probably stay open untill 12,but to be honest i cant see all my guests staying that long, and i doubt any will want to stay longer, depends on how many party animals you have coming i suppose, lol

Hmm...I do see your points about it being a long day, but I'm one of those who can happily get up at the crack of dawn, do a full days work and go out drinking with friends until 2am without feeling tired.

Also, at the last wedding we were at, us and the friends that would be coming to our wedding were up from early in the morning to travel and get ready for the wedding, which started at 1, started drinking at 3 and only left at 1am, there were other guests still going then!

I'll keep an open mind about this. We haven't booked it yet as we wanted to fully discuss the wedding options with the venue before we went ahead, I suppose we should still book the viewing and talk to them, who knows, they may extend it for us for an extra hour!

The curfew won't be due to neighbours, it's set in about 30 or 40 acres of it's own land!

We have to be out at midnight with music etc finishing at 1130. I don't really have a problem with this at all - when I've been to weddings I've left about 10 normally!

Our DJ plays until 12.30 and then guests have to leave by 1am unless they are staying in the hotel when they can move to another bar for as long as they like.

We seem to stay q late at all the weddings we've been to so its a good time for us

Our venue will let us go on till 1am. however i do think that after a long day if the music is off by 11 then it gives you an hour to go round and thank guests properly before they leave at 12,

it seems like a more respectable thing to do really!!
