When shall I start?

Personally I'd start looking for photographer quite soon and no harm in dress shopping either. I bought my dress over a year before.

If you're planning a saturday wedding then I'd get a wriggle on with most other big things that need to be booked! You are in prime wedding season and everything will get booked up quick so don't leave it too late and miss out!

I'd say look at dresses as they seem to like quite a bit of notice and book a Photographer ASAP (that's not because I am one). They will get booked quite quickly for next August.

No I would start for the suppliers now, some of them get booked up really fast. I'm already fully booked in one of my 2014 months, and I'm fairly unestablished.

I agree with everyone else, sort out your photographer first. As with everything else there's no harm in starting to book other things if you find what you're looking for.

I say start now, with TOG and entertainment if there is a specific band, group etc you want the good ones get booked and there is no harm in trying on a few frocks!!

I'd start now. You would be surprised how quickly things get booked up. I dont get married until April 2014 but i very nearly didnt get the venue dresser i wanted because they were booked up for that day, but luckily someone cancelled and they called me to let me know so i could book in with them.

Our day is sooner than yours, but being quite organised I think I'd rather get the big things all organised so that I know it's done and we've secured what we want and don't end up disappointed or stressing out too close to the day.

Another vote for getting the suppliers booked in now we booked everything 2 years in advance.

Reading this has made me email 2 photographers.. I hope they don't mind my late night panic x

i am looking for photography and don't know what I am looking for and I not want to spend lots of money on POG.

How I know if they r good or not?

To state the obvious, by the quality of their pictures. Ask to see a full album of a wedding they have done from start to finish, rather than them showing you 2-3 of their best shots of each wedding, you can see how the whole thing will look.

Second way we knew was by speaking to them. We arranged a meeting with each of our potential TOG's and you could tell just from their personality that they would be good or not. You need someone who you will be able to get along with because they will be with you all day, and you need to feel comfortable around them.

Last thing you want is someone who makes you feel stressed just by being around them because you dont like them as a person. We walked away from a photographer who had really nice photo's because i knew that I didnt like their personality and they would make me feel uncomfortable on the day.

I'm getting married next July and have already booked venue, registrar and photographer. I have also been to see one cake lady who has given us quotes, been dress shopping once and also been going to every wedding fair I can. It's never too early, and much better to be prepared and get what you want rather than leaving it and realising your date is booked by somebody else.
