Ask the shop how long it takes for the dress to come in. Some take up to 6 months, so you'd need to look at ordering it September/October this year to allow time for alterations.

Agree with Calella. I bought mine a week ago and have been advised it'll take 6-9 months to arrive in to the shop.

    Thanks ☺️

Ive not found a dress yet. Went in a couple of shops last year to enquire and was told it was too early to look so it's kinda put me off looking. Xx

I'm August next year and have just started to look. I'm planning to look for it over the summer, as and when I can. Hoping to maybe find the one then look at sample sales later in the year and see what I can find!

I effectively got laughed out of a shop last year.

If they don't want your business when you're ready to give them it, that's their problem! I'd say there's no harm in starting to look now. The styles will probably change around August when the new season collections come out.

    Hi

I'm getting married next July and I bought my dress last year so have had it a year already. I didn't plan to buy that early but found "the one" quicker than expected!

I agree with others. Start looking now as they can take upto 9 months to come in. Even for my bridesmaids dresses I have been given a 6 month timescale so I am ordering these in September at the latest.

Good luck in your search for your dress.

    Shelly x

I bought my dress 3 weeks before. But unless you enjoy living on the edge, I probably wouldn't recommend that Smiley smile

I bought mine a little over six months before the wedding, 3 weeks after we got engaged. But mine was a sample from a sample sale so I got to take it home straight away.

Yup, this was me. I'd been struggling to find anything I liked (I started looking super early) and so by the time I did find something - in June last year, 2 years before the wedding - I knew I would find it hard to find anything I liked as much, if I had decided to wait.

I would say go and have a look now, and if you struggle then up the search a little. If not, then you know you've given yourself plenty of time for alterations etc. No harm in looking.

I hate that people have been basically sent out of shops because of when their date is Smiley sad

I get married the day after you and ordered my dress last week. It'll take six months to come in. I definitely wouldn't leave it much longer.

I was planning on starting to look in September as I get married early may, but looks like I need to bring this forward. Thing is I need to shift my pregnancy weight gain before I start looking otherwise I'll hate everything try on. Should have lost it by now as son is 8 months, but too many coffee & cakes on maternity leave have got in the way ?

I'm currently a size 16 and need to get back to a 12/14, I'm presuming most samples in shops are 14 at the largest or will they have bigger?

Thanks for asking the question, it's helped me too.

Hi Lazybride! I'd call the shops you're planning on visiting and ask them what sizes they have samples for.

Most of the dresses I tried were around a 14, but some were smaller.

Yeah I'd say most of the ones I tried were 12-14 but there was a few that were a 16.

Bought mine back in February, getting married this July Smiley smile

A lot of the smaller bridal shops seem to have a much short waiting time than the larger more well known ones in my experience.
