We did agree a 'brief' before he booked it all! But he thinks the same as me about holidays so I should be safe!

We got a fab bargin for our honeymoon.

We are having 2 weeks in 5 star all inclusive hotel in Egypt. We only have ecomony seats on the flight coz they dont offer anything else as it's not long haul but have paid for extra leg room. We have paid the supp for the top room, (which is bigger than my house lol) & paying that also means we have a exclusive bar & restuarnt.

The whole thing has cost us just under £2000.00 in total. The only extra thing we are going to add is scuba diving.

Sri Lanka for 7 nights staying in 4 different hotels on a half board basis. Daily trips out to various places included in package.

Then onto the Maldives for 6 nights all inclusive basis staying in an overwater bungalow with a jacuzzi bath.

Oh then back to Sri Lanka for one night before with fly back to the UK [:'(]

Total cost just under £3.5K - which I dont think is bad. Economy flights and transfers included

Hep - I just couldnt cope with a surprise! Although it would be lovely.

We're going to Cuba in 12 days time (in fact we'll be in the air this time in 12 days). It cost 3k for a twin centre holiday (Havana and Cayo Guillermo) staying all inclusive in a 4* hotel for 10 days and a 5* for 4 days.

I'm watching this thread with interest as we are still trying to decide what to do about ours. We were thinking of Italy but don't think we'd be able to afford it, so looking for other ideas!

I know that I need to pack for hot beach weather and then a hot city so I have a few ideas about where we might be off to!

Maldives then Dubai or South Pacific somewhere then Miami/San Fran or Hawaii then USA city....?!

Love the fact that it's one thing I don't need to think about though as I usually sort all currency, guide books etc for holidays!

Our first holiday together was a surprise Hep. Got to glasgow airport and he told me and i was like 'where??????' never heard of the place. however, OH hadnt anticipated my allergy to the sun and I ended up in a lot of pain as my skin bubbled and oozed....ended up in ER on my return.

he loved it as he could sit and do nothing but i was miss ants in my pants coz I hated having nothing to do...... didnt even have any music to listen to or anything! See, if he had just told me a few days before...........

    bless him...

We're having two - a short break straight after the wedding and then three weeks in Orlando which is in October.

The short break is going here

https://pinelodgeholidays.co.uk/ Staying at the sandybrook site in the Elvaston Lodge which has it's own sauna. I can't wait. It's this will be our first holiday on our own for 4 years, the last one was our first holiday together which was about 6 months after we got together.

This is costing us £350 for 5 days and we've got to get food on top of that as it's just self catering.

The Orlando holiday we're staying here

https://www.comfortsuitesfl.com/ We're going for 3 weeks and then for the 2nd and 3rd weeks my family are coming out to us. We're going swimming with dolphins at discovery cove, doing all the theme parks. The holiday itself has cost us £2310 and then there's probably another £1000 on top of that for theme park tickets. It'll be worth it though, i've never been on holiday for 3 weeks before!!

I'm not sure where we are going yet, but i've got a bit scared now as everyone seems to be spending alot more than our budget! We only have about £2500 , does anyone have any pointers about where we might be able to go for this kind of price for two weeks?

You'll easily get something nice for that.

    What time of year?

What sort of thing do you want - hot & beachy, city, fly-drive etc?

    All inclusive or room only?

We're doing 5 nights in Vancouver, 5 nights in Seattle and 5 nights with our friends at their place outside Wenatchee.

Flights from Aberdeen to Amsterdam to Vancouver to Seattle to Amsterdam and back to Aberdeen. 5 Nights in 5* hotel, 5 nights in 4* hotel and car hire all comes to £2270. This is in November but OH doesn't do heat very well.

Costs are not including spending money and any sightseeing trips we do.

You can have a fantastic holiday with that budget. What time of year are you looking at going and what sort of holiday would you like beach/city/mixture of the two?

You don't necessarily have to go long haul either, you can find some fantastic places in europe.

Biking down to plymouth, ferry to N Spain then biking through the pyrenees, through N Spain, S france, into the Alps, a few days round Mont Blanc then back up through Lichinstein (sp?) Germany and Holland and Ferry back to Scotland. If we have the time/money will get a ferry to Sardinia for a few days from Italy too. The route is based around the good climbing areas and the plan is to camp and climb for two months as well as seeing some great scenery from the bikes. Not booking anything so if we decide we like a place we can stay a few extra days - just making it up as we go along really! Only schedules to keep to will be if we manage to book motoGP tickets and the ferries. Will have to pre-book the Nurberg ring too I think.

Not sure how much it will cost yet - I need to finish getting my big bike license and buy my bike, then each bike will go through probably two sets of tyres, Ferries are the biggest expense, then its just petrol, food and campsite fees! Oh, and a house sitter for the cats (cattery is out!) So if anyone wants to stay in a scottish country cottage for a few weeks, only payment would be feeding the cats twice a day...!! Looking at no more than £1k (plus buying my bike!)

When we can finally book it at the end of September we will be booking 4 nights in Dubai, 4 nights in Sydney (both half board) then 6 night all-inclusive in Mauritius!! Secretly I think I might be looking forward to this more than the wedding!! ?

The price at the moment is 4,200 but that is what we are waiting for, the prices for next year!! Also need to see what hotel they'll be offering in Mauritius because the one they use at the moment is closed for the whole of next summer!!

Hey Nona! I've got my CBT, just need the 125cc and up licence! I've been on the back of H2Bs bike for so long now that I shouldn't have a problem, plus I've been riding off road bikes and quad bikes since the dark ages (playing around on the farm at home!). We're got going until next year so I'll have had some practice by then anyway! Originally we were going to go just on one bike but it is too unstable with paniers and a top box as well as me on the back - not enough weight over the front tyre and that isn't really enough room for all our climbing and camping gear plus 8 weeks worth of clothes! Two bikes gives us the room and is actually safer!

Heh heh, I've now got the theme tune to 'the long way round' in my head!!

last year H2b & I went to Dom rep for £1600 all inclusive, it was fab so we plan to go back to the island but only on room only as we cant splurge on all inc this time around - I cant believe everyone is spending so much, hmmmm perhaps I should persuade H2B that he doesnt need a wedding ring and add this money to the honeymoon pot instead ?
