We're hoping to go between December and April, so are looking for somewhere that has an appropriate season in that period (ie. not anywhere where those months would be the hurricane season!).

Those months do match Central America seasonally, so that has become a fore-runner, but open to ideas!

I went to Rome first time round. It's absolutely amazing but very expensive. We actually ended up changing our flights and coming back 3 days early as we ran out of money! I'm glad we did though, as we wouldn't have got home to see my Dad before he passed away if we'd stayed for the original full length of the booking. We went in August and it was really hot.

This time we're looking to go to Iceland for the Northern Lights. The wedding is December 28th and I'm a teacher so we can't go immediately. We're looking at February half term, when the girl child will be with her mother. I've also asked fiance to book a mini-moon in the UK for the few days after the wedding.

Mine might be the most worrying?

Despite me saying over and over to renew since December, OH Passport ran out in April and when did he send it off? Last week the day before the passport woes hit the news!!

Therefore we can't book anything till we have it back just in case, hoping to go to Italy on the 8th September either Verona or Almalfi Coast

    *fingers crossed*

Now that's the one that stunned me! Please tell me that he's at least going to tell you what you need to pack!

I sure hope the place doesn't need a visa too ! (Apart from the USA visa which he could totally do without your knowledge... although wtf about that new visa system - it didn't exist last time I went there. Sorry digression.)

So, you lot have BLOWN MY MIND. Too much choice. And it just shows that there is no 'typical' honeymoon destination as you're all going all over the place from London to Australia.

Jeeeez, I've been trying to filter the list down to ones that just suit my time of year (Dec-April), so extra special thanks to those who gave weather/time of year advice too. I don't want to be sitting in a hurricane, and don't want to be too hot either so I try to keep under 30 deg when I travel. Surprisingly I've found that totally manageable on 5 continents so far. I'm a little scared that it won't be manageable if I plump for one of these destinations close to the equator though. However, Central America is a place I've never been, and my husband wants us to choose a destination that is new to both of us.

Ok,so forgive me for bypassing some of your suggestions as they are just places I've been to before, or my husband has (eg North America / Europe / African safari).

So the suggestions that fit seem to be:

Central America zone: Cuba, Jamaica, British Virgin Islands, Mexico, Aruba (I'll add Costa Rica into the mix too, since we were already thinking about it)

    Indian Ocean zone: Mauritius, Maldives

    Asia: Japan, Vietnam, Borneo

    Africa: Cape Verde

Thanks for reminding me about Japan. April for the cherry blossoms could be a great option, but I wonder if there are any beachy areas to do a couple of days of typical honeymoon nothingness, once we've finished travelling about???

The ones I know nothing about are Borneo and Cape Verde, so I think I'll do some googling on those. Suggesting Borneo will actually make me look into Asia a bit more too, rather than just focusing on Central America. As long as the weather is ok in SE asia at that time of year????

    THANKS TO ALL OF YOU!!!!

We went to Brussels for 2 nights which sounds dull but was AMAZING because we didn't take our kids. ? If we had the time/money we would love to go to SE Asia (Thailand/Vietnam/Laos) or some amazing train journey (Trans-Siberian or similar).

I'm desperate to go to Belgium since seeing 'In Bruges'. Thought we could do one night in Brussels one night In Bruge over a mini break at some point. Just googled it - 100km is doable if we rent a car. *adds to the bucket list*

We have a mini-moon straight after the wedding for 4 days in a cottage in the Wye Valley. Then we go to Mexico for two weeks in November. Weather looks good and it's not as expensive as going in December or January.

We've got a while before we plan anything yet, so won't know until we work out what our budget is nearer the time, but our ideas (in order of preference) are:

*Japan - Tokyo, Kyoto, Hiroshima, Miyajima Island, Hakone National Park and Ishigaki (one of the Okinawan islands)

*China and Vietnam, including a visit to a Giant Panda sanctuary

    *Australia

We want to stay at LUX Grande Gaube which is on the north coast. September is the end of their winter so for chances of the best weather we were limited to the north or west coasts.

Ahhh you've obviously thought of an actual route in Japan. Are there any beachy areas for relaxation after doing some trekking around? I'm all about the exploration aspect of holidays, but don't want to completely miss out on the relaxing fancy beach hotel aspects of honeymoons!

The Okinawan islands and Miyajima Island both have gorgeous beaches. There are a few beaches in southern Japan, but apparently they can get quite crowded.

I haven't booked our honeymoon yet. When I booked my holidays at work it was before I knew I was getting married, as we book our holidays 18 months in advance. So no option of having a two week honeymoon ☹️ I was planning on going to the travel agent the day before we get married and see if there are any late deals. We have a tight budget with renovating our house and of course the wedding. My OH is well against going all inclusive, he's never experienced it so tough too him I want too chill out for a week!

Some very lucky ladies on here going on some amazing honeymoons! Xx

I am also strongly considering Okinawa, the beaches there look amazing. Regarding Belgium, we went for 5 nights last year in August, at the last minute we changed 5 nights in Bruges for 2 nights in Brussels first followed by 3 nights in Bruges. I can whole heartedly say, go straight to Bruges! We enjoyed Brussels but didn't feel like we would have missed much if we had the whole 5 nights in Bruges, it is so beautiful and we were so lucky with the weather. I would recommend getting a tandem and cycling along the canals to a village called Damme, it is all very flat and cycle friendly and tandems are so romantic!

Another one going to Vegas here! For the first 3 nights, then driving to San Diego 3 nights, LA 3 nights and San Fran 3 nights.

I cannot wait! Also doing a helicopter tour of Grand Canyon.

We're getting married in a week, having a mini moon straight after in Bath but going on our proper honeymoon in September.

Only thing I ever say about the lovely San Fran is pre-book Alcatraz tickets online way in advance. Just rock up on the day and you might be turned away. I saw tourists crying on the docks as they'd left the Alcatraz tour til their last day in the city as a special grand farewell, and then found it was fully booked.

Also, anyone going to Vegas for extended periods and want to fill another day after the Grand Canyon trip, the Fire Valley jeep tour is awesome - red rock formations and petroglyphs everywhere. Death Valley tour is sh!t.

Sounds awesome. I love booking stuff in advance to look forward too Smiley smile

I went to a traditional 'Showgirls' style evening show as since seeing the film I didn't feel like I could leave Vegas without seeing women prance about with feather head plumes and their ta tas on display for no apparent reason ?

Perfect weather in Vegas in October - great choice. The mid summer heat there is atrocious; end up staying indoors all the time.

Thank you for this, it reminded me to try again today. They don't do night tours on the days we're there which is a shame, so I've booked an early tour instead. San Fran is probably the one I'm looking forward to most, I've a feeling I'm not going to want to leave!

We're going to Thailand in December. I think it's pretty much the perfect time to be going there. Expensive to get there but really reasonable once there so we've decided to stay for 4 weeks!! Looking forward to this more than the wedding at times!
