Where are you honeymooning?

Just wondering where people are honeymooning to and, if you don't mind sharing, how much it's costing you.. hoping for a bit of inspiration!

We at least know now we will be leaving UK and flying into Johannesburg on 23rd September 2014! We have the flight booked now for a taxes only price by using family avios points!!

Still need to work out where we will be when and more specifically where we want to be in Mauritius so we can book the return flight in a couple of weeks but Dad has just called to say the tickets were successfully booked and I just had to share my excitement!!

We're off to Oxfordshire to a music festival for 5 nights. We're taking all five kids and another three (possibly four) families so it's a festival within a festival really. Not perhaps the most luxurious or romantic honeymoon but we can't wait!

We're going to Hawaii and island-hopping between The Big Island, Maui and Oahu. Looking forward to it but there's so much work involved in planning it all!

We're going to Lake Garda in Italy. I had set my heart on the Amalfi Coast but we just couldnt afford the more luxury hotels and the less luxury ones looked a bit disappointing after we'd looked a the good ones. It seems like money goes a little bit further around Lake Garda and we've found some lovely hotelswe can actuallyt afford with lakeside views and everything. We're flying to Venice (was so cheap on Jet2 - all the luxuries lol) and then getting the train to the Lake. We're going to stay in a few spots around the lake and use the boats as transport. Havent booked everywhere yet but looks like it will be about £2000 for flights + bed and breakfast for 10 days not including spending money. I'm so looking forward to it!

Feel a bit boring when I read everyone elses locations - like Borneo- wow! I'm a massivly fussy eater though and have hardly travelled anywhere so even Italy seems pretty exotic to me. I think if we had more money to spend my choice might have been different but I'd rather get married now and compromise than wait any longer!!

Interested to know - is everyone elses other half more interested in planning / talking about the honeymoon than the wedding? Mine is!

I have my heart set on America but it all comes down to how much money we have left after everything else

we will also have a smaller, cheaper family holiday with the kids (thinking Greece or Spain maybe)

OMG, that sounds amazing. The Trans-Siberia is one of my dreams, super jealous! Are you booking through a tour operator or just DIY? What a fabulous experience!

It was something we always both talked about doing so we thought might as well do it for our honeymoon! I think we will probably do a tour as from the beginnings of my research you cant just hop on and off you need to book individual trains and to be honest if it wasn't our honeymoon we would probably diy it as we have both done a lot of travelling but I think on this occasion I want someone else to worry about all the little details and timing issues and we can just enjoy ourselves!!!

Oh please do update as you book, I would love to hear the details. How utterly romantic - you'll have to take Dr Zhivago to read on the train.

We did 7 nights touring Sri Lanka and 7 nights on Kuramathi in the Maldives.

£4,500 for both of us in 2011 in peak season.

We booked a Kuoni holiday but through Blue Bay Travel which was £500 cheaper.

ahh we went Kuramthi in June with airmiles saved from our wedding in 2012. Was AMAZING and they had opened this amazing new international restaurant. It blew me away. The year before we went for our actual honeymoon to Arthuruga which was lovely, but Kuramathi blew my mind.

I loved Kuramathi. The food was amazing, the beach was stunning, the snorkelling out of this world. I want to go back!!!

ahh just love hearing from someone else who has been! I actually preferred it to our honeymoon destination. was so amazing everywhere else just seems a bit meh in comparison. Loved the bbq restaurant as well, thought the qualityand choice of food was great. Loved the stingrays being fed, the fruit bats, the dolphin cruise, ahhh just loved it.

    here's acouple of mine!

We are off to New Zealand for 3 weeks with a stop off in Singapore en route. Never been out of Europe and really is a trip I have always wanted to do - will be discovering all the islands and plan of visiting many of the natural beautiful sites. The H2B is planning on climbing a mountain as he often does but I am a little unsure about this!
