I need some inspiration! I'm off work sick today so thought I'd spend the afternoon flicking through travel brochures n honeymoon browsing online and oh my god I've driven myself crazy! We have no set idea of what we'd like to do, it's currently been narrowed down to possibly a safari coupled with a beach stay, or just a general carribean type holiday/exotic type thing but I'm overwhelmed with choice!! We'd also considered fly drive to see some of America or doing a wine/foodie tour around Italy but we decided we don't want to be constantly on the move....so, where are you all going??

We're touring the island so we have a few different hotels, including Hótel Borg, Hótel Skógar and The Blue Lagoon. Have a look at Nordic Visitor (https://www.nordicvisitor.com/). They booked everything for us.

We still hadn't had much luck with the whole honeymoon booking, the safari/Mauritius thing was working out as unaffordable...so I was looking at morocco but it wasn't working out much cheaper...but tonight, I've found the most fabulous looking hotel in the Piemonte region of Italy, completely fell for it, OH loves it, we worked out we (ie he! Lol) can drive all the way there, working a couple nights stop over in france there and back...it's an amazing food/wine region, loads of delicious restaurants nearby, the hotel claims to be disabled access, they do wine tastings and cooking classes...just looks gorgeous! I've emailed them to check the accessibility and to see if they have availability and I'm so scared they won't cus it's now where we want to go!! Fingers crossed for us ladies!!!!

We're hoping for a tour of Japan and Vietnam, but I've worked out that including flights there/back it will be about £8,000 for travel and accommodation. Once you add on spending money it would pretty much double the cost of our wedding. I'm having a little bit of a stress trying to work out how we might possibly be able to save it all at the moment. It'll be easier to save once we're living together, but then we're also hoping for a mini-us before the wedding. I've joined YouGov and a few cashback sites, and OH is thinking about taking on some computer work in the New Year as a bit of a sideline, but that will only make a small dent. Think Xmas and birthdays might be cancelled for the next couple of years.

Madamred i think most honeymoon type places are expensive! The way i see it though, is that you're going to have the best day of your lives, you've got to follow it with the best holiday of your lives! So if you can afford it go for it! You say you'll be able to save more when you live together........think this through! I thought the same thing but wih the mortage, bills, food shops etc we are finding it more difficult to save!

Vietnam can be very cheap once your there - if you are organising the majority of travel and hotels yourself - if you haven't been before - unless your flying then travel is slow so factor that element in - can take up to 5 hours for less then 100km. We did 18 days for 3K for the 2 of us - that was everything - flights, accomodation, food and spending money. I'm going back in April - a 4* suite for three of us is £300 for 6 days and thats going pretty top end.

I haven't been to Japan but have friends who have been so know it's expensive - could you split it up so do Vietnam this trip followed by going to Japan a few years later once saved up?

We did 2 weeks in Kenya including a 3 night safari staying in the most amazing luxy lodges in the most amazing places. It was a dream holiday and I would LOVE to go back one day. The people are just brilliant and the best bit is.......... no jet lag as you are only a couple of hours difference.

Well after six pages of amazing sounding honeymoons we finally have ours mostly booked, we've booked an amazing tiny intimate hotel in the Piemonte region where we can eat amazing food, drink fabulous wine, enjoy beautiful scenery, I'm so excited!! We just have to plan our route as we're going to drive there, so hopefully get a couple nights in France on the way there and a couple nights there or Switzerland on the way home! Everyone enjoy their honeymoons! X

We've both been to Japan before (separately, never together), so we have ideas for ways to save. I've done some maths based on 2014 figures and we would save on the joint tour with only having one set of flights. As OH works in a school, flights are the biggest individual cost and the only place where we can't save any money. The tour company I've used to go to Japan before is amazing so I'm hoping they might be able to work out some ways of making it cheaper for us.

Feel free to share Japan tips please! We are going April 2016 for 2 weeks, no plans as yet and no experience of this part of the world. The furthest we've been is Cyprus!
