Where are you off on your hen weekend and what have you planned for it - theme, goody bags, games etc

cerysrichards, 3 September, 2013 at 08:51 Posted on Planning 0 27

Me and my girls are off to Butlins next March just in final stages of getting deposits before booking. It does make you realise who your true friends are by the ones who come up with the most awful excuses not to come especially the ones who say that they cant make the hen but will be there at the wedding - the cheek! Especially OH sister (who is bridesmaid) who is refusing to come!

I'm planning on doing a little welcome pack for them all with a gift bag and a personalised card to each of them to thank them for coming with a little friendship poem in there

we are booking the 90s reloaded weekend - boyband alert!!! and still deciding on themes but one suggestion has been to do - big fat gypsy wedding - imagine the bling!!

starting to get some ideas for games also

what are you all doing for yours? xx

OMG I'm so jealous! I really wanted to do the 90s Butlins weekend, but I had major problems getting my friends to commit to it and I didn't want to be let down at the last minute.

If I was still doing that I would have had a fancy dress night with an "it's a man's world" theme. We'd all dress up like stereotypical man things like builders, mechanics etc.

I'm now just having a big local hen do - dinner and drinks, and then off to Cardiff for a weekend with just a few of us for a p*ss up. No fancy dress or anything for that though as there will only be 5 of us - and 2 of those are over 50 so we're not expecting them to last all night.

    Have a brilliant time!

I'm off to the 80s weekend in butlins next month for my aunts 50th birthday!! I'm really looking forward to it, but am a little worried that its going to be wilder than my hen party! Ha ha! We are hopefully going to centre parcs in February for my hen weekend, with a night out in Nottingham on the Saturday night. Im also just waiting for the last few deposits. Wasn't sure about whether or not to do fancy dress, but I really like the its a mans world theme..might have to pinch that! Smiley smile

I don't have a clue when, where or what I am doing for my hen do.

I hate not being in control!

My sister sent me a long spreadsheet to fill in asking me what I want and don't want eg.

    Naked men? (no!)

    Naked Becki? (NO!)

Do you want to come home with both eyebrows (YES!)

Sounds fab! no idea what I'm doing yet but then there is a while to go before I start worrying! Not expecting a big weekend though as the budget is tiny and I'm not sure my friends are generous enough lol

A birdie told me its properly a dinner and I'm guessing a comedy club in Manchester. I've had nothing to do with it mind Smiley smile but my mum is bad at keeping secrets from me.

I'm off to Brighton next year, 31st Jan for two nights Smiley smile don't know any other details though, just the location, and who's going! I've been super impressed with my friends, as almost everyone I invited is coming, so I feel very blessed by my lovely friends! One of my close friends (who's also a bridesmaid!) did make a bit of a fuss about the date as it's her birthday on the 31st, but my fab MOH quickly sorted it!

H2b's friends on the other hand are being absolutely crap about his stag, which really annoys me more than it should! Several are claiming they're too skint, even though he picked the weekend for the stag back at the beginning of May, so they've had plenty of notice. Makes me sad because he's really disappointed Smiley sad

I hope we're going to Brighton for mine. Not too sure what we're doing yet though. I'll probably only invite about 8-10 people as I don't have that many close friends, does that sound small?

I dont think that sounds small at all. I have 11 altogether coming to mine, including me and I'm more than happy with that number.

I think its nice when its a smaller group sometimes!

I have 11 coming to mine, some of my 'friends' have given excuses as to why they cant come which to be honest are pathetic ones and has made me change my opinion about them - really do learn during this wedding process who you're real friends are!!!

I will have about 7 at mine. I don't have a big group of friends but I am really looking forward to spending the weekend with them.

A friend of mine is having 30 at hers!! I would go insane!

It;s all a great big secret as MOH and bridesmaids are organising. I'm a control freak but happy to let them do it as it's one less thing to organise and i can focus on the wedding stuff.

Ahh this is lovely, I love Disneyland!

My sister is planning all 3 (yes, 3!) of my hen surprises and the first is the weekend after next eek! I have been told nothing except the date and to book some time off of work. Apparently I get my first clue in Monday - cannot wait! As for size of party, most of my friends have kids so I'm expecting this first hen to really just be me and my sister, and I'm really happy with that - quality not quantity! I think she's planning a big local night out with family and friends in October!

Not booked anything yet, but we are planning on a joint hen/stag at the Edinburgh Festival the week before the wedding - rent a house/flat and go to all the free shows we can!

I have no clue about mine, all i know is it is the weekend of the 12th October. My two bridesmaids are organising it all and keeping it a total secret! I am very very excited. I only have 9 coming, it was 10 but one girl is in Rome the same weekend, and two of the 9 are my mum and mother in law to be. i only wanted people who i close to there really as i didn;t want any drama or fall outs amonst a big group of girls!

We are still in the process of arranging our hen do. We haven't yet a agreed a location but I really fancy Liverpool. There looks like there is a lot to do, the big question is what activities to book. We will have a broad age group going so we want to appeal to everybody. I know you can't always please everyone, but we want to try to make sure there is something for everybody.

How difficult is this wedding planning?!?!

    I'm off to Amsterdam!

Don't know what's planned as I'm leaving it all to my BMSs but I think we are going to go on one of those beer bikes which you peddle around the city.

    I can't wait!!

Some people genuinely can't afford to go to both, so will choose the wedding on the assumption that the bride and groom would rather they were at the wedding than vice versa.

I doubt I'd ever go away on a far away hen do, I would never be able to afford that plus the related expenses of a wedding gift and potential travelling, drink money etc etc.

Even the title of this thread assumes that a Hen do is to go away for a weekend somewhere, its not for everyone though, mine was just a night out in my hometown and it was good.

I agree not everyone can afford it but if you can why not make a holiday out of it - it may be your last big girls holiday for a while! I think cater for everyone, I'm having Vegas then a low key local night out when I am home for those who couldn't make Vegas
