Where can I buy voile curtains?

Peaches with Brandy Butter, 7 December, 2008 at 01:49 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 26

I can't believe that I'm unable to find voile curtains in the UK. Every store I look for online either doesn't do them, or have gone bust. Just looked up Rosebys and they went into administration in September http://www.rosebys.com/default.aspx?src=100

Any other ideas as to where I can buy some? Just want something like this but would rather buy it in the UK than have to bring it over (I need 3 pairs)

Thanks

Wow Zoe, that's a bargain! I didn't think I'd match US prices, but you've come up trumps. Thank you! I was envisaging having to traipse the shops when I got back, but now I don't have to. I'll order some and send to Mum so they are there when I get to the UK.

No problem! I was surprised at the price myself even though Ikea does often have some bargains!

More than suitable for your rentals I would say.

I just checked though they aren't for sale online ? bum

Well that was me saying 'oh sh!t' outloud!! ?

So much for that then eh. Bloody Ikea!

Yes, they're for the rental house. There are thick velvet curtains up at the moment which are absolutely fine, but I feel like a change, and the last tenants (3 years) didn't draw all the curtains so the cold air was trapped by the windows causing condensation and black mould. Blinds and voile will stop that for the future, and looks fresher anyway.

Oh that's really kind of you. I'm back on the 19th, but surely I'll find something similar which can be delivered to save you going and then packing and posting.

If I don't, I'll come running, but I'll keep looking.

    Thanks though .. much appreciated.

John Lewis have voile panels like the ones in the picture you posted. I have 3 patterned pairs in my living room (2 pairs on the bay window and one pair on a smaller window). They're not cheap though. The ones I bought were almost £20 per panel. They have some online starting at £11.50 and I know they carry a much wider selection instore.

Hey don't worry! I had it in my head I was going to have to traipse the shops when I got there, which is why I thought I'd get them here and take them with me .. which I still might as there are so many sales on ATM due to stores closing. One of my favourite house-y shops is shutting, so they have stupid prices on their stuff. It would be good to not have to shop though, and take in my suitcase.

I saw the ones from Argos and they are what I'm thinking of in style with the tab-top, but a bit thicker than the voile.

Ebay might be worth a look. I guess voile wont take much weight in a suitcase though so might be worth getting over there anyway

Peachy, I am going to IKEA on Tuesday, if you want me to look for anything, let me know.

We are also flying over on the 19th. Are you going to LHR? Might we bump into eachother in the baggage hall at Heathrow?!

Yes, into LHR lol. What time do you arrive? Are you getting a hire car or being picked up? Why did I even ask that question?!?!

We could exchange money for voiles. That'd be different ?

I'm getting fussy now, aren't I?! The tabs on those are a bit thinner than I'd like.

    Yep. Too fussy.

LOL, well sometimes it's easy to forget that it's not for me!

    What about these?

They're ridiculously cheap. Even with the 8.25% added, they're still less than 4 quid a pair. 3 windows for less than 12 quid!

Just need the pole to floor measurement which Mum will get for me tomorrow hopefully. And also the recess measurements as I then need to buy (and fit when I'm there) roller blinds. Or some kind of blinds.

Zoe, what are you still doing up?! It's 10.30 here and Mr P has gone to bed already. It's 4.30 your end .. do you ever sleep?!

LOL, no, don't need a lift! But thanks for asking! ?

We arrive about 7 am, but will be getting a hire car. I think that's why I thought of it as each time we hire from the airport, it's over 3 hours from landing until we get away. A right faff!

Zoe, well that shows how much attention I was paying! We were in Walmart earlier (a new super-sized one has just opened up near us) and I had a quick look. Wasn't much to write home about, and I have to say, the pictures make them look about $100 a pair in comparison to what they look like IRL.

Doesn't matter that it's for rentals, they're crap! I know I'm being emotionally attached, but I do have standards! ?

I bought some voile panels from Target last time I was in the US and when I got them home home they looked so cheap. I bought some Ikea ones (in bright pink) and they looked really good quality. Ikea is great for voile panels but you would have to go to the store because they are very limited on internet deliveries (and charge a fortune).

    I've also found these :-

    Thanks Jelly Baby

I like the look of the Next ones, although I think for this purpose they need to be as plain as possible - one colour at least. The previous tenants changed the blinds downstairs and put in a venetian and hung a rail with voile (didn't ask permission, but it looks nice, so I've not complained) hence wanting to carry the theme on upstairs.
