Where can I find this dress....

ooh la la, 23 July, 2009 at 21:44 Posted on Planning 0 25

...in the UK?

Please, please help me!...

The dress is Antibes by Cymbeline...and I absolutely adore it.

I really want to try it on, but I don't know where to look to find UK stockists. I'd be looking for bridal shops in Leicester or Norwich.

Thanks in advance.

Firstly can i just say LUSH....it is absolutely beautiful hey

secondly not particularly helpful but my local shop stocks cymberline dresses....worse comes to the worse come down here for a p*ss up cup of coffee with moi and try it on there, or i guess you could call them and see if they know anyone in your area who does it?

Hey....I looked on the Prima Donna website, but they don't list that they stock Cymbeline dresses (it's quite a funky website, so I assume that it's updated regularly.)

Just had a look myself as well. I get the impression from the website that it's not an exhaustive list. Perhaps give them a call and if not, they might be able to help with a nearby stockist?

Colchester essex. what are your connections to norwich? i love norwich only because they have a quickie train to the city that stops at colchester, it shortens my journey by 10 mins....little things give me big pleasures!

Our parents live in Suffolk (Bungay) so Norwich is their nearest city. I used to go shopping there most weekends and just assumed that I would go back there for dress shopping as that's where my BM's are too.

My late Grandpa's partner lives in Stratford St Mary, Nr Colchester.....so maybe that could be an option.

Blimey, you have to drive far for your dress fittings then!

Ah i know bungay! my mum came from that way so have been there a few times and have fond memories of it.

yep it took me about 31/2 hours last time i went to fitting! i didnt really consider distance when i bought it, and keep telling myself its worth it...luckily i only have the one fitting left now and then she is going to courier the finished article to me thankfully x

Kentish - I don't even want to think about the price just yet! lol. My Step-Dad has always said that I'm his "favourite daughter" (I'm his only daughter!) and that when I get married, he'll buy my dress (But I've been told by Mum, that he "read in the paper, that ASDA sell wedding dresses, now!"). So I'm guessing he'll pay about £600, and I'll pay the rest (which for that dress, will probably be 3/4 times that amount!)....but I've got some money coming from my late Nain's (Welsh Grandma's) estate. And in my ISA, I have a bit that was given to me from my late Grandpa's (husband of my Nain) estate, so I'll use a bit of that too. I've already decided that whatever dress I get, I'm keeping it in the family, so I want to get a timeless and classic design which my daughters (fingers crossed on that one) can wear it if they so desire.....If not, I'll get it made into Christening gowns for their Children on the proviso that they pass the gowns on to their children.

Debs - Yep, A fun filled day of phoning around! Ahh well, it's not as if I have anything better to do, especially as the bloody rain is STILL HERE!

George - Thank you so much....I absolutely love it too. I can remember seeing it ages ago on their website and loving it, but then I forgot about it. I bought the new copy of "Perfect Weddings" magazine last night, and it was in that. As soon as I saw it, it made me feel all funny and when I showed it to OH, (maybe I shouldn't have done that!) he said "it's the most beautiful wedding dress" he's "ever seen" (although I would say he's only seen 15 in his whole life!) and that I "had to try it on".....hence my quest. I know that our wedding isn't going to be for a while, as yet, (we're still hoping on 2012) but this dress is calling me! ?

Drifter - I can tell already that I'm going to love you over the course of this planning malarky! lol. You have helped me already, so much via FB so thank you ?. We're going to have to come that way, for a weekend anyways to go and look at all of those fabulous venues you suggested, so maybe I should book in at your bridal shop and ask a very nice Hitcher (ie: you!) to accompany me if you're free ?.

    Thank you all. xx

    OLL

Wedding dress shopping I am so there!

I Have my eye on trying this but with the underskirt that fills in the slit.

I think cymberline gowns maybe a little more reasoable in price than some others as well although I have no clue if that is right I am just basing it on a quote on the shops blog "Cymbeline, a long-standing and popular range of dresses designed and made in France, just south of Paris. The Cymbeline range brings to Dragonfly an affordable choice of dresses reflecting a different style and use of fabrics – especially wonderful french lace."

Lovely dress Drifter! That would look stunning on you....you most certainly have the figure for it!

But I think that their comment got lost in translation, because I've now seen prices for Antibes and it ranges from £1950 - £3200! ?

Damm prices this was my more reasonable option!

I definately may be going off budget when it comes to a dress. Well of my orginal self imposed budget anyway.

Have you found a place near you to try it yet?

    OLL, that dress is GOWGEOUS.

speak to the shop in norwich, they might be able to get it in for you - but check first to see what their RRP would be - no point trying it on if you can't afford it.

Not yet....I'm browsing the second hand sites for it...but no-one seems to be selling it.

OH has told me to contact local dressmakers, but that looks to be such beautiful quality and I'm worried if I try to get that one made, that the end result will be nothing like it!
