We met at work when we were 18/19. Hated each other at first, then became friends.

Match.com. I signed up purely for an ego boost as I had separated from my husband 3 months before. Didn't really intend to meet anyone, just wanted to chat and not be so lonely. One man made me laugh and caught my eye enough for me to agree to one drink. We get married in September :-)

My OH thinks if he tells his rugby mates we met online they's rip him to peices, but we're getting married now so I don't see what difference it makes where we met.

I have a two friends who met their husband online, and two who met theirs at speed dating events! They ALL lie about how they met. When I was bridesmaid, I seemed to be the only one who knew the truth - not even their very close friends who were other BMs!

I don't actually know what that says about me - either I'm very good at keeping secrets or am always needed as a partner in crime/alibi!

I briefly dabbled in online dating when on a break from MF. I met a guy and fell for him. I expected that I'd lie about how we met, but it really never came up, no one asked! If they had I'd have told the truth - I didn't care how we met in the end, I was just happy to be with him. (until he cheated and broke my heart!)

We met at uni. We were on the same course and I started dating on of the lads in his friend circle so I spent more and more time with him, knew I liked him but did nothing about it as I was with someone else. Then my BF at the time cheated on me. I dumped him immediatley. I was upset and down and got in touch with my now OH for some comfort and support. He was a very good friend over that summer, he had feelings for me too but didnt act on them. He waited for me to make the first move a few weeks later and we have been together ever since.

He has had to put up with some crap because of how we met, it split the friendship group and there was an actual fight over it. He could have said to me that it was too hard to be with me but he didnt. He stayed through the tough times. Smiley smile

We only have one version of how we met:

Carols by Candlelight service 5.5 years ago, I was singing in a village church choir and our usual organist was called away to sing with a big pro choir, so OH came in to dep (a bit like supply teaching for church music). I had a bit more of a chance to talk to him than the others because I had a short solo to sing that we needed to practice before the service, and afterwards we just kept talking - we were the same age, had some mutual friends from uni, and some other mutual interests, but have never met up to this point.

Naively, I thought we just got on well and were going to be friends, but when I met up with him in the new year "drinks out" was actually a date - we had cocktails and he'd booked dinner and the rest is history!

However, the truth: that I stayed over at his house the night of our first date (although no funny business he was a perfect gentleman) and then went straight from there the next day to let down a guy who thought he was dating me (pre-planned before my night out with OH, I'd tried to put him straight before but he hadn't got the message) isn't something I usually tack on to the story!

I met OH online and everyone knows that Smiley smile

I had browsed a bit before but joined properly in Dec 2012 after being nagged by friends. OH messaged me in early Jan 2013 and we met up in person late Jan - he was my first and last internet date lol!

Less than 6 weeks later we had rented a house together, 4 months in he proposed and we get married on 3 June 2014, exactly a year after he proposed and 16 months, 1 week since we met.

I'm 36, he is 41 and first wedding for both of us (no kids). It might seem quick to some but we aren't children and we feel we have nothing to lose!

So, so lucky, complete whirlwind but very happy.

I met OH in March 2010 when I applied for a job through a recruitment company and he was the recruitment consultant. We had a nice chat and he put me forward for interview two days later. The job was out of town with no buses, and I didn't have a car, so he drove me to and from the interview. He wrote his mobile number on his business card and gave it to me when he dropped me off so I could call him when I was finished, to come and pick me up. I really felt a spark between us when we were chatting, we'd lived in the same city previously, been to the same bars, had similar senses of humour... But I had a boyfriend!

Anyway, I kept his number in my phone, and when I split up with my boyfriend in late July 2010, I accidentally-on-purpose sent OH a text that was meant for a girlfriend, saying that I was now single. He replied with "Who's this", I did the standard, "Oh gosh, sorry, I didn't mean to send that to you", and we got chatting... It was clear that we'd both liked each other when we'd met a few months before, and we arranged to meet up.

Within two weeks we'd fallen in love, I told him "I'd marry you tomorrow", and one week after that I sort of moved in with him - we got a place together 3 months later, in November 2010, and we haven't looked back.

Plenty of fish too! :] My second time on there, he took a chance and messaged me thinking I wasn't going to reply because I didn't look the type to want to chat to him. So anyway started chatting in January 2013 - planned a date, cancelled dates (due to hospital stays) finally met in February weekend before his before he came to stay in Lincoln (as he was from Grimsby) and then we had such a good time that we became a couple on his birthday cue the expensive month - birthday/anniversary/valentines! We've now been together a year, engaged 3/4months and wedding in January 2016!

We met at work. He remotely broke my computer and then took about 30 mins to 'fix' it (so he could talk to me) and told me at the time it was a very complicated problem that he'd never seen before. We became friendly after that and kept in touch after I left, and went on a date a while later.

We tend to mostly say we met at work though he told the computer story at the wedding.
