I'll be buying my sweeties from a wholesaler (via my mum who works in a shop) and jars, scoops and bags from ebay

We have access to a Bookers account. We bought loads of "tuck shop" sweets - some in plastic bags, some in the more traditional 'sweet shop' plastic bottles, and found some wicker baskets quite cheap so we'll put them in there. We were looking for scoops as well and found some metal 'ice cube scoops' in the bar supplies section which suited the job perfectly.

    Hi oldgal

We will be getting our sweets from the Makro and bought our jars from Asda. Will be decorating them in our colour scheme.

The following link was the cheapest i could find for scoops and super duper delivery:

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/5-x-Ice-Pet-Sweet-Food-Scoop-Stainless-Steel-5oz-/120748461862?_trksid=p4340.m263&_trkparms=algo%3DDLSL%252BSIC%26its%3DI%26itu%3DUCI%252BMRU-11700%252BIA%252BUA%252BFICS%252BUFI%252BDDSIC%26otn%3D8%26pmod%3D150626193742%252B150626193742%26po%3D%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D1287396007319637676

And found tongs on Amazon on the following link:

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/Stainless-steel-Ice-Sweet-Tong/dp/B002MQQ6OY/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1310466083&sr=8-2

Also if you are looking for "sweetie" bags, i found ours on Ebay on the following link:

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=190537439447&ssPageName=ADME:B:EOIBSA:GB:1123

If you go on the link for the bags, the seller has a shop so you can look for all colours/designs etc.

    Hope this helps.

    xxx

This is my mock up of our sweety buffet:

As you can see i've got a variety of different ways of displaying the sweeties.

I'd have 4 of my jars from Ikea. The silver lidded jars were something like 70p each. Dunelm have also been a good sorce of cheap vases - the 2 small raised vases were something like £3 each from there. I got my tall heart shaped vase for £4 from Morrisons. The cake stand came from ebay. One came from Mom's garage, and one is a vase I regular use for flowers at home.

    In terms of the sweetys.

    We've got:

Jelly beans - 3 packs for £2 Jelly babies - half price bags 250g in Tesco Fruit gums - ha;f price bags in Tesco Fruit lollies - 70p for 5 from Tesco Cola bottles - £2 for the huge box, 50g I think from a local homeware store. Love hearts - £1 for 12 from Netto post valentines day Tangfasts - 50p per pack on promotion in Asda Paper money - 35p per pack from local shop Star mix - 50p per pack on promotion in Asda Fun mix - £2 per kg from "Home bargains" Marsh Mellows - large 225g bags currently reduced to £1 in Spar. Fruit foams - 30p per pack from Tesco After eights - £2 for large pack reduced after Xmas (date is fine) Rainbow dust - Online from ebay, something like £2 for 70 sticks Candy watch / Candy burger - couple of pounds from ebay.

Larger lollipop - £2 from the works

So, as you can see, i've not used any kind of bulk suppliers as they worked out cheaper for me to wait for a promotion in supermarkets and to purchase at the right time. I've been collecting the above for 6 months (obviously checking dates). I've never paid more then £4 for a KG.

A lot of the suppermarkets do the jars with lids that you use for preserves fairly cheeply. Ikea is good for this too. Also check out charity shops as they often have glass bowls, vases dishes etc for very little. Or check out cupboards from older relatives as tyhey often have glas bowls and would probably love to help out.
