Where do I start??? Rough ideas of costs?

MrsRainbowtobe, 26 December, 2011 at 21:01 Posted on Planning 0 6

Hi Girls,

Gosh where do I start with all this planning! ITs only going to be a small and intimate affair with immediate family and maybe couple of friends.

Options we have tossed around so far is, going to the Lakes somewhere or maybe going abroad, Majorca or Cyprus but need to bear school terms times in mind as 2 little ones coming.

Does anyone have any rough ideas of package costs, of costs pp? Do most places accept small wedding parties?

If anyone can give me any tips of the best way to start going about things or websites, people to speak to, would be much appreciated as Im lost by it all. Doesn't help the fact I have an 18 month old to look after aswell so think Im still suffering with baby brain!!

Thanks

Debbie x

    Hello!

Congratulations on your engagement. I think the best thing to do is think about numbers, and then contact a few venues to have a look around. Make a little to do list and buy a few wedding mags. Enjoy yourself! Planning is fun!

    Hi Debbie,

You're on the right forum to ask as there's a lot of brides doing similar things.

All I would say based on what I've seen on here in the past is that a small number of people can grow due to those wanting to come and exotic locations can stretch the budget in silly ways making it seem more logical to stay put and invite everyone!

Immediate family for some could mean 20 people, for me it would 4

It depends whether you are paying for your family of 4 or mum and dad, his mum and dad etc etc

Decide what you can afford and stick to it is my advice, weddings can get completely out of hand.

Hey MrsRB2B.. welcome and congratulations. First i would do a list of people to invite then internet search for venues in the lakes and ask for brochures. Most places have costs on there websites and vary massively from place to place. We have a big wedding however never saw any restrictions on the party size where we looked.

This website is ace for wedding planning and has a venue section which might be helpful. I also i find the white wedding magazine (free you just sign up and they send out for your area... google search it) really good for finding suppliers. OO and wedding fayres.. just google search for them in you area are good at picking up bits and peices.

    Good luck and enjoy xx

    Hello and Congratulations!

I would certainly get your guest list together. Consider the old question of whether you will extend the invite to children, partners etc. This should give you a ball park head count.

Have you decided whether to go for a Church ceremony, or a registry office or perhaps a venue with licensed premises. This will help to refine your search criteria for a venue as not all are licensed.

Now the fun really starts and you can start looking for your venue. Do you have an idea of what you are after? Outdoor space? A marquee? A country house? The time of year that you decide to get married will impact the price, with mid-week, off peak always coming in cheaper. Keep an eye on sites like Groupon, which sometimes offer amazing venue deals!

Good luck, and keep us up to speed on how the planning goes. You will get lots of support on this forum!

    Hi Debbie

Congratulation on the upcoming wedding Smiley smile Not sure if you have booked anywhere yet or decided on a country but we have booked ours for Majorca for later this year. To be honest I looked at Cyprus too but the cost for our guests to get there and hotels was too much.

We have chosen the Yacht Club Cala d'Or and I'm so excited. I think we are paying about €75 a head but that includes the venue hire, 3 course dinner, wine and welcome drinks. I've been speaking to their wedding planner, Claire, and she has organised everything for us (at no extra cost). She booked the vicar, organised our photographer and flowers, band and hair and make up lady. I've only had to concentrate on organising my dress and the bridesmaids Smiley smile

If you want me to send you through the details let me know.

    Best of luck

We went to a wedding in cyprus and as guests for 2 weeks in a 4* hotel we paid £3900 just to go and that was 2 adults 1 child under 5, it was however all inclusive and the bride and groom didnt need to pay extra for a meal set apart from other diners they planned their wedding to be at lunchtime so we had a row of tables laid out for our group to sit together but help ourself from the buffet, they had the hotel chef make a single teir cake and she took silk flowers with her, we did have 14 months notice to save though and it was lovely, like the others have said look at your guest list first then see if you will get discount for group bookings more than 20 of us went and we had a small deduction from the original price.
