Where have all these Newbies sprouted from! Intro's

I know, I thought that... good to see if all the regulars turn into OMs and abandon us for the other boards!

Well I will start Tahdah as I have a spare 10 mins before escaping work for the day!

I am not sure if I am exactly a newbie as have been engaged for 15 months and lurking most of that time but only the last three months I have started posting and properly planning!

So wedding is 15th May 2010 (less than 10 months argg!)

It is in our local church with reception in a hotel in Hove (just next to Brighton)

I ordered my dress on Saturday so still feeling excited about that ?

I think I have most of the main things booked except florist and honeymoon, just waiting for a few more months to pass to start the little bits!

I posted my dress pic on Saturday and that is my only planning pic I am afraid!

Ive just joined today, my OH and I have decided to get married but i havent got my ring yet let alone started booking places and buying a dress, but we are planning on getting married in 2010 maybe in may or september? and it will be in either london, essex or hertfordshire because of where we live and our families!

soooo excited, and im being super organised since it is kind of soon, so Ive already researched venues, dress designers and thought of themes! its so fun!thankfully in my job all i do is sit at a computer so im on here a lot.....?

I've been engaged since the beginning of October but now that we've started to book and pay for things it has made it all real and that a forum would be a great idea to bounce ideas off each other.

The weeding is on the 10th Apr, civil ceremony and reception all under the one roof in Tunbridge wells

I bought my dress last wednesday, I'd been to quite a few shops and this one was the last one on the list it was the last dress I tried on and I knew there and then it was the one!! just goes to show the best things come to those who wait.

I've been lurking for a few months and posted the odd thing here and there.

Been engaged for 4 years now and with H2B for 9 and have finally set the date, 10th September 2011 so still got ages, although some of my OM friends have assured me it will fly by, I'm not convinced!

Still looking at venues etc so have absolutely zilch, zero, zip plans in place as yet!

? omg you guys have been together ages! Ive had a kind of whirlwind romance, only met H2B in november, moved in in feb and now we r engaged! (nuts i know, but i guess when you know, you just know!) I hope we can be together as long as you two, its so lovely! ?

Well I was once in your position lol, whirlwind romance I mean, met H2B at 19, moved in with him 5 months later, then fell pregnant 3 months after that and it seems mortgages, babies and just general life took over, it's only now we feel financially able to commit to a wedding, it's all very exciting.

wow! I think thats partly why we are getting married so soon, cos I just know something like that will happen, especially as he is a few years older and wants kids, or we will be 40 before we can afford it! and it is so exciting. financially tho i think we have gone against the grain of this group and got a loan. its only for 2 years though and we are in a position to pay it off easily, we just didnt want to wait!lol

Hello newbies! Nice to 'see' you all!

Hi all,

Seeing as the church pencilled us in last weekend, I suppose now is a good a time as any to come out the woodwork where I've been lurking for the past two years since we got engaged!

We've also got the reception venue booked - a village hall round the corner from the church in a pretty village just outside Oxford. Date is 18th June 2011, which will be a week before our 12 year anniversery of the day we met! Getting excited now, feel like I can start planning properly now we've got a date!!

I wish we'd of got a loan years ago cos by now we would be OM and the debt would be paid off lol!

Getting married on 4th December 09, already got my dress and done most of the organising. Been engaged since September, got proposed to outside sydney harbour bridge whilst travelling. My colour theme is navy blue and silver. Starting to get quite nervous now tho!!!

I met my h2b in August 2007, we moved in together in Dec 2007, engaged in March 2008 and get married in August 2010. Like you said - when you know, you know!

Zippy almost ditto! Met September 2007, engaged April 2008 moved in Aug 2008 and marry May 2010! But it feels so right, can't remember life without him!

It's so nice to know I'm not the only one without many concrete plans at the mo - I'm the world's most indecisive person ever so planning a wedding is not my strong point!!

Anyway, me and h2b got engaged in May this year in a beautiful place on the Costa Brava in front of a lighthouse - it was amazing and we absolutely fell in love with it and now want to get married there.

Because I'm from down south and he's from up't north there's nowhere in England which is really really special to both of us so we decided to get married in Spain and plus I've always dreamed of getting married somewhere warm. We're not entirely sure of all the legalities at the moment but my h2b is catholic so we think we should be able to get married in a catholic church out there. We've got his crazy plan of getting married in this gorgeous church in a beautiful little coastal village called Cadaques and then getting a boat round to the next bay where we will have our reception at the hotel there. As I said we haven't got any concrete plans yet because we're not sure if we can do it but have our hearts set on it now!!

We're thinking June 2011 although our budget might make it 2012 as we're currently saving up to get our first house - money money money!

Don't have a dress yet as I think it's probably a bit premature but doesn't stop me eyeing up the windows of bridal shops - a girl can dream.

Would love to hear from anybody who is planning a wedding abroad or even better in Spain as I feel a bit like a fish out of water at the mo!

Keeley that sounds AMAZING! I have nothing helpful to add but you have just made me very jealous. I really wanted to get married abroad but we have 7 grandparents between us, none of whom fly so it was a no no ☹️

Aww thanks minimouse - sorry to have made you jealous though!! Where are you getting married instead? I'm sure it's just as nice. Luckily, my granddad has actually got a villa in Spain about 45 minutes from where we're getting married so he's used to the flying and my h2b has just got one grandmother and as long as we do it in the next few years she'll be on the plane before we can say...we're getting married!!

It does sound amazing, just a bit worried it will won't all go to plan...

Keeleyk9....we're planning on a 2012 wedding too. (August 04th to be precise!)

Hi everyone

I'm new too. Got engaged in June this year and getting married 9 April 2010. We've booked the church (in Basildon), reception venue (in Brentwood) and i've found my bridesmaids' dresses but other than that i've not done anything else. We're moving house next week so i'm trying to get that out of the way first before I throw myself into planning. My chief bridesmaid has been fantastic and i've found the dress I want but its a bit over my budget so i'm currently searching the net and ebay for a second hand one.
