Where to buy stuff to make Wedding Invites

Nix, 24 November, 2009 at 19:29 Posted on Planning 0 11

Hello all, just been having a nosey at the Invitation Flash-some seriously lovely wedding invites ladies! (and gents!) I am about to embark on making some for my sister in law but wanting some recommendation for websites to buy the card, ribbon, etc from. I live in deepest darkest Wales so the nearest Hobbycraft etc is a good 3hour round trip!! Any other general tips also appreciated! x

Ebay is always a good place to start...

I've been looking for some card to make menus, etc and they are plenty of choices on ebay...

I'm the same, not near anything in particular in terms of big craft shops. I got a couple of pieces off ebay but most from here http://www.weddingcrafter.co.uk/ the staff were really helpful.

I know you asked for websites, i don't know any but.....in deepedst darkest Wales do you have a knitting shop or garden centres? i get my ribbon form a little knitting shop and i've noticed craft shops popping up in garden centres recently.

i used to make cards quite often and my tips are: double sided sticky tape is much easier and cleaner than glue and also if you have a load of invites to make i'd advise going for a design without lots of cutting out to do or your hands will get sore!

    Hiya,

I got all my card making materials from a website called www.madaboutcards.com. You can either design your own or go with one of there examples. I went with the pink rose ones.

    They really are lovely.

    Hope this helps xx

Hobbycraft is quite expensive. I brought small amounts from there to make my mock-ups then hen I had decided on the design I brought the rest of the stuff from ebay.

Thanks everyone for the advice, I totally hear you with the cutting!!! I am making sure I stick to something simple! Cola, there are a few places around but when I say deep and dark I really mean it! There are a few places but not great for buying any amount of anything as they are quite expensive, but maybe have a little nosey at one I can think of......and maybe a cup of tea and a sneaky cake while I am there! Thanks x

I must admit when it comes to wedding invitation cards, it is something that you should work on with your attention to details and the like. sometimes you could be torn apart with so many beautiful designs and styles but if i were to decide on wedding invitation cards, i would go for something with a bit of personal touch. heard that DIY by martha, but in case you are so busy to do something DIY, then it is best to buy a card that is already made.

We have an online wedding craft shop for DIY wedding stationery including card, ribbon and embellishments (including some new diamante and pearl embellishments). Good luck with making the invitations for your sister in law.
