Where to start - invitations

godraw, 18 February, 2012 at 13:39 Posted on Planning 0 5

Hi Everyone

I'm a newbie here and i'm just beginning to piece together and plan my wedding.

I feel like everything should go well except for the invites. s=sOUNDS SILLY BUT I HAVE NO IDEA WHERE TO START!!!!!!!!!

You send seperate invites to day and evening guests? But why is it so hard to find evening invites or are they just edited wedding invites if you get me.

Also enclosures, we're having a free bar and wanted to put a map and one of those wedding present poem things and also about special dietary ....surely thats far to much to have as an enclosure. ? Could it all go on one folder a4 page?

Sorry for the stooopid questions Smiley smile

xx

You don't have to have seperate guests, its just I suppose people can't always afford to feed every person at the wedding breakfast, so have closer family and friends for the meal and ceremony and then extra guests later to party. But it really is up to you what you can do.

Most wedding stationary websites will have a range of examples for you too see, from save the dates, to day and evening invites to rsvp cards. Start with googling for wedding stationers or take a look at the supplier section on hitched. Websites like marks and spencers also do them. Dietary needs can go on the rsvp card to be sent back to you. Personally I hate money poems and think it's better to be polite but direct if you are asking for money. Something along the lines of you only want peoples company but if people would like to give a gift money towards x would be very much appreciate. You can have as many pages as you want in your invites so extra info doesn't have to all go on one page. We had one for the actual invite, one for the gift list, one for additional info and an rsvp card. We also included a double a4 page with accommodation details.

    Hi godraw,

Stationery can be a difficult subject as there is SO much choice out there. I fyou have a lot of information to give your guests, you might like to consider the Envelopments or Pocketfold invitations - these basically have a 'pocket' in where you can have additional information sheets for the map, gift list etc. Alternatively you might have a traditional folded style invitation but with additional pages for the info.

Start by having a look at some stationery websites and get some ideas for the type and style of stationery that appeals to you. There are SO many options...pocketfold invitations, cheque book style, boxed invitations, scrolls etc etc. There is also a massive range of stationery to fit any budget!

Here are some websites that offer a good range of styles and options:

My website: www.millieandme.net also on Facebook as 'Millie and Me'

    The wonderful Suzanne: www.prettywild.co.uk

Something very different from Zoe: www.bunnydelicious.co.uk

    Amazing laser cut designs: www.cutture.com

    www.xoxo-wedding.co.uk

    www.weddingparaphernalia.co.uk

    www.wearetickledpink.co.uk

    www.twenty-seven.co.uk

    www.wanderlustcards.co.uk

    www.hellolucky.com

    www.oliveweddings.co.uk

    www.beehappydesigns.co.uk

    www.lucyledger.com for gorgeous scrapbook/vintage styles

Most stationery designers will be happy to adapt their designs for you and to offer bespoke styles as well.

Hope some of these sites might be good inspiration for you.

    Nicky

    Hello

They are not stupid questions, don't worry!

Evening invitations are usually (but not always) simpler versions of your wedding invitations. If you are having them made, the stationer will normally offer a couple of styles/options, all which carry through the colours and theme from your day invitations.

I agree with Nicky, that if you want to include extra information that pocketfold invitations might be the way to go as you have more options regarding additional information. I have included a couple of pictures however there are more on my website/facebook.

In terms of where to look for your invitations, online is a good starting point but you could also check out local wedding fayres or contact local suppliers as a lot (including ourselves) offer to come out and do consultations with you so you can come up with your perfect design.

Hope that helps but feel free to get in touch on ****@******************.**.** with any queries.
