Where would you choose to live?

Erin8, 12 March, 2013 at 20:11 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 34

If you could live anywhere then where would it be? I think l may have to cheat and go for 2 places: Maida Vale or somewhere on the river in London like Kew or Chiswick and also have a place at the seaside. Maybe in Sussex.

I'd probably move back to Cardiff.

I'd like to try somewhere foreign (always wanted to live in Barcelona) but I know my OH wants to move to Australia or back to America where he was for a while.

either Cardiff or back to Bucks for me :-) nothing wrong with Bristol where I am but I haven't settled here.

I'm such a lamo and wouldn't want to move anywhere else from where I am now.

    I'm in Surbiton so straddled between/borderline London/Surrey.

London is 15 minutes away/1 stop by train, but also have Surrey on my doorstep where my family and all my freinds are.

Even if I had the money to live in Central London (Surbi is pretty expensive anyway), none of my friends would live there and wouldn't be easy to drive etc.

This is only based in England though. Although I don't think I'd ever be truly happy abroad. I like seasons and etiquette.

If it weren't for me needing to be within an hour of parents, and OH being able to get work, then Cheshire. Easy access to Snowdonia, the Lakes and the Peak. Plus good motorway connections.

As things stand, with OH working north Coventry, parents in Stratford on Avon, me working East Birmingham, then where we live, in mid Warwickshire, is pretty ideal. We would love to move a few miles into even more rural idyll, so Rowington, Lowsonford or Shrewley (bonus points if anyone has a clue where I mean) but we'd need £500k min for a half decent house and £600k for the dream house and that's only 3 beds with no land!

My sister lives in London. I did for a year but its too much for me!

Bristol is a nice size and has a good 'feel' to it, I just never chose to move here, I'm here for the OH so I feel kinda detached from it!

Australia or somewhere in the countryside, near the sea. If money was no object. We can't get jobs in a rural area.

Yey another vote for Surbiton - close enough to London, but still distinctly *Surrey*

I would relocate London to the seaside and then live there.

Impossibilities of geography aside, I would either move back to Putney or find a picturesque village somewhere on the Dorset coast.

Probably Cornwall as that's where OH's surname originates so think its calling him! I on the other hand loved our recent trip to Cardiff and all of the Doctor Who geekiness it entailed Smiley smile (Waits for the ribbing)

I'm hoping I can persuade hubby to do lots more trips there as we have friends based there with the forces, it's just the 4.5 hour trip that's a bugger.

Ooh, I love Maida Vale! I lived in just off Abbey Road right near there (though technically in St. John's Wood) for the first year I was in the UK! Bloody expensive, though.

If I could live anywhere in he whole world... I would have 2 homes. One would be in Toronto, in a house in rosedale where I cannot afford to live, and the other would be in chelsfield, just one station further towards Kent, and likely the area Ant and I will move to in 2014.

I relocated from London to Copenhagen and I really like Copenhagen, although it took me a bit of getting used to the smaller size at first. Now that I am here I would love to be able to have a large flat overlooking the canals, such an awesome view. I would also love to have a summer place or kolonihavehus as well. The latter is like the Danish equivalent of having a beach hut only they're proper little house type buildings in a communal area that are usually still within the borders of the city. They have a nice front garden too which is great for entertaining in nice weather. You don't see in the central part of the city seeing as the residential areas there are all flats.

West Sussex would be lovely, green and a little more rural than where I am.

Failing that, a little house i've seen on the banks of river Shannon in ireland.

    Lastly, New Zealand!

Ripon in North Yorks, it's where my grandparents lived when I was younger so there is probably a degree of rose tinted glasses.

or on the southern Brittany coast in France.

In my dreams I would like to live in Florida. But only if I didn't have to work, so I could play all day!

Otherwise, Cornwall is gorgeous...not sure my IBS could take all that clotted cream though.

I do get really homesick though so guess I'm really happy staying in Reading. ?

In the UK, I wouldn't live anywhere other than Liverpool, I love it here, although we would move to a better area and a bigger house!

I would really really love to live abroad though, waking up and feeling the sun on my skin every day is my dream and has been for as long as I can remember. Maybe not as far as Mexico (despite my signature!) The Canaries has year round Sun, and isn't too far to fly back home in a few hours if I was missing my Mum so somewhere like that. Just need the lottery win now!

In the UK would be by the seaside, or in the Cheshire countrysid. I like the idea of Harris in the Outer Hebrides but in reality I think that would be TOO isolated.

If money was no object it would be Pienza in Tuscany Smiley heart

I like living in Brentwood, and would like to stay here and buy one of the big Edwardian houses.

Alternatively, I'd move to Windsor, I love it there, and it's the one thing I miss (other than people) about Berkshire

If I didn't have to live where I do for my OH's job, then we would probably move further up north- living somewhere between Cumbria (where I am from) and Lincolnshire (where OH is from). Maybe somewhere like York.

You must live very close to me........ We live in Henley.

There's no place like home! I could never move away from Newcastle. If I moved it would be to a posher suburb, that's all.
