Where's everyone going on Honeymoon?

rachandnath, 7 March, 2010 at 20:31 Posted on Planning 0 44

Where's everyone going on Honeymoon? and to get a good deal is it better to book early (a year in advance) or wait until a few months prior to when we actually want to go?

We're waiting and getting a cheap deal hopefully. We don't really mind where we go TBH. As long as it is sunny and has lovely beach.

Really not sure if we will be having one, if we do we will probably end up having to take the children so it would be somewhere like disneyland paris on a last minute deal, the cheaper the better!! we have asked for thomas cook travel vouchers in our 'gift list' so will see if we get any of those to go towards it x

All depends on how much of our budget we (ok i) spend on decorations and last min stuff. at the mo i have bought the wedding in £1500 under budget so we could go somewhere lovely but am sure that amount will get smaller as i find stuff we just 'have' to have. I am a teacher and we are gettign married at the end of half term so we wont be able to go on our honey moon straight away but we want to spend the weekend at the fat duck in Bray as both of us are foodies.

We are going to couples swept away in jamaica. We booked in Sept last year but would have saved £500 if we'd waited until last week!! That said, we saved over £1000 by choosing a different tour operator and it meant we could go from an airport more convenient for us too so definately make sure you shop around as well...

We're off to Corfu for 7 nights the day after our wedding in June. We wanted to do 2 weeks but H2B needs to be back for work stuff, so we're going to do a week's camping somewhere in August too.

We are going to Sri Lanka and the Maldives... got tour operators looking for great deals for me at the moment (playing them all off against each other!) but the flights aren't all released until 11 months before so it's slim picking at the moment but should pick up over the next few weeks.

Am soooo excited, planning to have babies soon after so this will be our last holiday for while!

We're still undecided but are not beachy people to either fly-drive america maybe australia but thinking most likely self-drive Italy - Venice, drive to Florence via Tuscan countryside then go down to the Amalfi coast stopping along the way - going for 3 weeks if we can wangle the time off work!

13 nights in the Cook Islands in the South Pacific! It's where Shipwrecked was filmed. We have 7 nights in the main island & 5 nights in a quieter island.

Then 3 nights in San Francisco on the way home to break up the journey!

It's cost a fortune & I think we might have got a better deal generally if we'd have waited but we couldn't have been guaranteed to get the accommodation we wanted as there is limited availability on the Cooks.

... any excuse to talk about my honeymoon! I cannot wait!
My OH and I are jetting off the week after our wedding to spend our year long honeymoon travelling the world . (you can imagine the planning involved in this along with the wedding!!)

We're starting in NYC, driving across the states for a few months stopping in Boston, Philladelphia, New Orleans, Dallas, San Antonio, San Diego and San Francisco. More cities to be added.

This is gonna be pretty driving intensive so we're taking 4 weeks of sun holiday in The Cook Islands and Tahiti

Followed by 2 months campervanning around NZ with many new plans and many thanks to fellow hitcher diamonds ?

This is then followed by a 3 month trip around Oz, covering the east coast as well as joining a campervan convoy across the outback of the west country.

We're then spending about 5-6 months travelling around South East Asia....Indonesia, Phillipines, Malaysia, Cambodia, Vietnam, Thialand, Laos

Then we're heading to Hong Kong and Seoul in Korea

On the way hom for good measure we are stopping off in Egypt, followed by Finland to stay with some friends aaaaannnnddd theeennnnn home.

    I am sooooooooooooooooo excited!

Stazzle I am so jealous you only have 4 months to wait for your adventure!

    RachandNath,

You mentioned that you're getting married in April - we went to Barbados in April (where we ended up getting engaged!) and it is a brilliant place to go at that time of year. The weather is gorgeous. I think anywhere in the caribbean is particularly good Jan to April.

We ended up going back to barbados for our honeymoon - Bougainvillea Beach Resort.

Miami is great in April if you wanted more of a city break with beach too.

We fly the evening after we get married ~ I can't wait!!

He says he's not gonna tell me till we're at the airport. For my 30th he took me away to Barcelona, I had no idea where we were goning as we flew with a cheaper airline & we flew into Gerona (sp) I wouldn't have found out till we landed but he couldn't contain the secret and told me whilst we were in the air. My mum asked if he would tell her what currency she could get us but he won't even give that away to her.

I love surprises and hope I don't find out till we're at the airport!

Oh I do love looking at all your honeymoon pics and ideas! We haven't decided on where we're going yet. e keep coming up with different fab ideas! We would love for someone to book it us and just drop us off at the airport! We are in discussions with OH's mum to do this as she is paying! We really don't know if we want beach or adventure! We won't be going until a few months after the wedding away as the wedding is abroad it would seem like a waste. Also, if we wait until April (7months after the wedding!) we can have a longer honeymoon due to work holidays! We're already having 2.5 weeks off for the wedding! And a week before to have a planning after party week at my parents! OH's work are being so relaxed with the time off! Best not push it!

Ireland for us! We haven't booked the accommodation yet, but we're looking for a wee cottage in the middle of nowhere where we'll live on red wine, bread and cheese (and love, of course). Can't wait!
