Which dress?? Please help!!

Kadence, 11 February, 2012 at 17:33 Posted on Planning 0 28

I've been dress shopping again today, having already thought I'd found a dress I really loved. However, I have now found two others, completely different to the one #i thought I'd be having! And totally different to eachother. Here they are ;

This one is much more fitted and gives me that hourglass figure, not like the emaciated model in this pic! would have it with a black sash with crystal detail on.

Or this! This makes me feel like a princess, and I really thought I wanted something more modern. It has a little srap with flowers on too, and gives the most amazing pulled in waist.

What do you think?? My theme is black and ivory - would I get away with the 2nd dress? Its ivory and not blush pink as the photo shows

Def depends how u really feel in both of them, are there any bits u don't like on either of them? Personally I prefer the shape of the second one but its all down to what you like better. Also, some people might not agree, but I decided not to bother too much about whether mine fitted with the venue, theme etc as I would have found it too hard to pick. I just went with the one I prefered on me x

I agree that it's hard to say without seeing you in both and I also agree that your dress shouldn't have to tie into the theme generally. HOWEVER I personally prefer the first (love the sash/belt esp) and this dress would look so smashing with your bridesmaid dresses.

Im a 14 but with quite big hips, but I do like that fitted hourglass look. The other one is obviously really flattering as it covers a lot - I am honestly so stuck!

I would say the first defo has a wow factor...the second didn't move me much but I'm not into traditional styles of gowns. You seen like a funky kinda lady to me and the first is more fitting with that. But at the end of the day it has to be about how you feel when you are wearing the dress so all other considerations are pretty much irrelevant. Did you feel anymore fabulous is either one??

What does the original dress you liked look like?

Out of those two I am drawn more to the first one.

Pic of me in dress number 2, not a great pic but it was a quick sneeky one! Little niece in a matching one, but a bit too gypsy wedding style for me having her as a mini bride!! This sample was only a 10 though so did not fit at all around the bust, would be much more pulled in in that area

This exact same thing happened to me. On my first shopping trip, my big sister travelled 3 hours from Hull, my little sister drove 2 hours from Southampton... we all went shopping... and the whole experience was completely underwhelming, I tried on about 18 dresses and found one that was ok, but nothing special. So my sisters came all that way for nothing as I didnt buy anything!

I resigned myself to the fact that I was never going to find a dress I really loved.

My second trip was a little more successful as I was starting to get a better idea for what shape dress I liked... I thought I'd found the one, but again, thought it was nice, but wasnt blown over by it.

FINALLY I found a Maggie Sottero gown online called Jenna. I called a local shop who ordered in a sample dress for me... I tried it on and almost cried with relief! BUT still, my mum didnt cry or anything like that. It's stressful finding a dress and I didnt like it either because it was all so disappointing.

My advice would be, if you're getting fed up of it to stop for a while - and if you're not sure about either dress, then keep looking and remember what you like about each dress - the shape, colour etc so you can piece together an idea for your perfect dress in your head Smiley smile

GOOD LUCK AND DON'T PANIC!!!! You'll find it Smiley smile xxx

Much prefer the second dress. I think the first one makes the model looks cut in half because of the abrupt change in detailing. Second has the wow factor for me.

Yes I Know what you mean Lynsey, I didnt even pick it to try on as it didnt look anything on the hanger. My sister made me try it and I ws so surprised how much I liked it on. I thimk because the model in the pic is so skinny it looks like a really abrupt change, but because im a lot more curvy it kind of goes in then out and looks better. Going to take my MOH on Saturday for her valued opinion!

I would definitely say the first one, just by your profile photo you can see the first one is your true style, and if you say it looks great on then even better Smiley smile

That's what i'm thinking Westlake, it's more 'me'. Just had a look on your website and I adore the vintage 'Daisy' headband - it is stunning! Are they silver/grey pearls?

I think if you aren't absolutely, "I must have this dress" and waking up thinking of one of them, you haven't found the right one yet. Enjoy keeping looking

    I prefer the second one!

But honestly, given your doubts at this stage it doesn't matter what we think. Perhaps go out looking again and you'll either find another which blows these two out of the water, OR the experience will help you decide you love one of these dresses more than the other Smiley smile

    Good luck!
