Which smallish car would you recommend?

Clairebecky, 15 June, 2008 at 17:34 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 16

It has to have 5 drs and aircon, and be reasonably nippy and reliable but beyond that I'm not fussy!

I'm contemplating the Honda Jazz - anyone got one or have any other suggestions?

We've got a hyundai getz and are really liking it, we had a vauxhall vectra before, so a big change, but the getz has lots of leg room front and back and a decent sized boot, and it was quite a good price. They have 5 year warranties as well

I was about to say Honda Jazz before I opened your post!

I have one and I bloody love it. I've had it for 4 years now and it's been reliable, economical, and surprisingly spacious. the back seat flipping up thingy is great. Don't know how I survived without it before.

I would never buy anything that wasn't japanese now. I had french cars until this one. Not going back!

Oh, and 3 of my extended family have got them too (including one person whose husband deals in classic cars and he loves it too) and are just as happy.

Skoda Fabia - you can't go wrong with a Skoda.

I heart my Yaris, it's super roomy, economical, reliable and has the cutest little face. Bless it.

ETA - I have the 1.3 and it's really nippy.

Hmmm the Yaris and the Fabia were both other possibles I'd considered. H has had 2 Octavias and we've been happy with them - Skoda's are good cars!

Don't know about a Getz - will have to investogate, can't think what they look like!

What's the flippy thing in the Jazz you're on about?

I have a Jazz and I love it so far - only had it 6 weeks or so but it is 3.5 years old. I fancied the Yaris too esp as H has an Avensis which is great but as I have a 2 year old and am pregnant again it didn't seem big enough for me and 2 young kids and all their stuff.

I don't think I would buy non-Japanese again either - had a Micra before the Jazz and despite being a few years older than H's Megan it was a shedload more reliable.

I'd say Yaris or Jazz.... but if you can afford the extra, def go with the Jazz.... better resale value as well so the extra you are likely to make at the end.... Jazz seem to have that little extra room....

Definitely the Yaris, Mr ID has one, very nippy, roomy and economical, plus you can slide the back seats forward to make the boot bigger.

I've got the Yaris' big brother - the Auris - and am very very happy with that. Can't fault the Toyotas so far...I'd never had one before and I'm really pleased.

The back seats flip up, so you can load stuff in there too. It's hard to explain without there being pictures.

If you can't google it, I'll go outside and take pics of the car and post them ?

    I'd recommend the Skoda Fabia - it's a nice little car. My best friend has a diesel - a 1.4 I think - and it's lovely.

Don't go for a Jazz over a Toyota. We have a Toyota and my SIL has a Jazz, I think the Jazz is tinny in comparison to the Toyota. I love Toyota's, they're great cars IMHO

I might have to do some test driving!

Sounds like it's the Jazz, Yaris or Fabia. Not sure which would give me most for my money?
