Whilst we're on the subject of gym changing rooms....

Sunset21, 18 May, 2009 at 13:59 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 28

I have to laugh and wonder about some of the women in the female changing rooms at my gym, i'm no perv and no prude either, I don't mind showing my womanly bits where needs be but some women will stand in front of the mirror, putting on creams, doing their hair, doing their make up etc. with not a single stitch on - why wouldn't you at least put on a bra and knickers?

On discussion with MrSun over this it appears that some men are the same - apparently there's one older gentleman in the men's changing rooms that likes to put his feet up on the counter and dry between his toes before bothering to put clothes on ? Good on him that he can still get his feet up on the counter I suppose ?

I've often wondered this too. Again, I'm not a prude/perv, but I do particularly wonder at the women who stand then bend right over to apply body lotion whilst completely naked. It's not the prettiest thing to see. My H has also confirmed that the same kind of thing happens in the mens'.

At a gym i used to go to in London, a woman in her early fifties (at a guess) would routinely dry her hair, apply moisturising cream and make up etc while just wearing a chain around her waist attached to her belly button piercing and (sometimes) a too-small thong.

It wasn't nice. it really wasn't

Yes, I had an old dear putting cream on all her bits with one leg on the bench a while back, completely starkers. Unless you moisturise your lady garden then why wouldn't you put a pair of knickers on first ?

Yeah, it's a bit odd. Worst bit is when you can see the string hanging out from their tampons ?

Better than seeing them insert the tampon thinking no one will look in their direction.

Oh good lord, now I understand the notice at the leisure centre which says "you must change in a cubicle" I think it's great to be body confident but the whole tampon things is too much

I was about to post that this doesn't bother me at all- I wouldn't do hair and make up with no clothes on but I don't care if others do- but then I saw the tampon thing. Is that really true? Ick.

Do you know, at all the gyms I've ever been a member of, I've never come across any exhibitionist tendencies like this - far more the opposite, actually, the 'panicked rush to put a towel around me in case anyone just might spy a tiny bit of nakedness when I take my gym kit off'. Maybe I'm just terribly unobservant?

The other thread, by the way, is the exact reason why I've never been compelled to join a health club or gym that allows under 16s in ?

It doesn't bother me either Knownowt but leaves me wondering why. You say you wouldn't do hair and make up naked and neither would I so why do others feel they need to? Just a wonder on my behalf. I also wonder if they wander around naked doing these things at home. Perhaps they do.

Maybe it's a body issue thing then, i've just realised that since i've put on weight i've gone from doing my hair with a bra on to doing it with a t-shirt on and that's down to the fact that I don't like what I see and don't want it staring me in the face for the next half an hour.

I will moisturise after a bath naked but then i'm not looking in a mirror.

I remember being in the gym changing area trying to change as modestly as possible, while a starkers woman saying to her friend: 'Oh I do wish I was one of those people with self-confidence. That would be really nice to have loads of confidence wherever I went.'

WTF? You're walking round starkers in a crowded room, doing your hair and makeup. How much more confidence would you like?

I guess some people's hang-ups don't relate to their bodies.

There's one woman at my gym who I see quite often stretched out on the benches between the lockers in her knickers, apparently meditating. She can be there for 10 minutes at a time, easily. Not only do I not want to look at her saggy bits when I'm changing, it also means there's nowhere to put my bag! It's only a matter of time before I put my bag on her, the inconsiderate exhibitionist cow ? She's the Bench Hog. There are other changing room oddities too. There's One Bra Skank and Huge Muff Woman (self explanatory ?) People are weird, and you see it all in the changing rooms.

I arrived at the gym the other week to be confronted with a naked woman standing at a locker right by the entrance trimming her pubic hair with a pair of scissors! She was just letting the discarded hair fall on the floor. I thought that was way beyond normal.

Nothing is more bizarre than the woman who wore her underwear to go swimming rather than a cossie and then kept it on after showering in it. I didn't see her not take it off but I did see the very obvious wet patch on her jeans.

I used to take my baby daughter swimming on a Tuesday (during allocated under 16's time!) and there are no cubicles at the pool I use. I was sat on a bench getting her dressed, and Naked Old Woman comes through from the shower area. She's quite taken with the baby, and is bent over stroking her face and arm. I normally don't mind strangers cooing over my daughter, but felt a bit uncomfortable when the woman's nipple was resting on baby's cheek. I feared Sadie, being the greedy child she is, would try and latch on.

I have no qualms about people wandering around naked in changing rooms, but do draw the line at them inflicting their body parts on me or my daughter ?

I don't mind seeing people do hair and make up in knickers and bra, seeing as i've probably just seen them in the pool in a teeny weeny bikini. I occassionaly do mine in bra knickers and t-shirt. However, i have no idea why women walk around stark bollock naked.

Also does the tampon thing really happen? ? it really is a bit too OTT

We used to have a gym at work...so all worked for same company/in same building.

One of the gym class attenders, used to stand talking and start inserting her tampon....bleurghhh. Absolutely no reason to inflict that on me and others. Yuk yuk yuk.

When I was in sixth form, they built a swanky new gym in our town and we routinely saw teachers in the buff. Mrs Wells' bush was legendary.

I must admit it's not something I could do, even in my slimmer days when I had a great body but didn't realise. ?

I remember being in a youth hostel (first and only time!) aged 15 and being completely horrified at the group of starkers German women in the bathroom. Seeing them wash their hairy armpits and lady gardens was a bit too much and I got dressed in a locked loo cubicle. ?

I was just about to ask that ?

I'm not fashed about the nakedness in general but trimming pubic hair onto a changing room floor is grim.

Men are far more disgusting when it comes to parading around gym changing rooms. Especially the ones who admire their naked form in the full length mirror. Or use the hair dryer to blow dry their pubic hair (pointing from underneath - cheap thrills presumably). My local gym also has one or two men who seem oblivious to the person sitting behind them on a bench when bending over to get something out of their locker.

I often see women parading themselves around naked in the changing room at my gym and it's not normally the young ones either. This is why unless I've gone swimming or going out into town straight afterwards in which case I use the curtained cubible (of which there are only 3) I tend to pick up my bag and shower at home. I barely inflinct my naked body on my husband so I'm not hte type to undress in front of strangers
