white gold ques???

Hi, i am getting married in feb and was going to get my engagement ring cleaned, the man in the jewellers said about getting it (errodum plated) excuse the spelling. but yellow gold is not showing through the white gold yet...i have had my ring a year and a half...would it need done for the wedding or would a clean be ok??how often should a ring need erodum plated?

Haven't a clue but i'm assuming they would have to re plate it for it to look new again?

When H2B was looking for my ring the jeweler said every 3 years, so shouldn't need doing yet. Maybe a good professional clean would be sufficient.

Its rhodium that you will need the ring replated with. White gold is usually just yellow gold plated with rhodium. I would just get it cleaned if its not yellowing. My e ring is really yellow now but my wedding ring is still ok so I might wait until both need it.

I've just had my wedding ring and engagement ring cleaned - both white gold - and they said they automatically rhodium plate engagement rings when they are cleaned as it doesn't cost any extra. Mine was £30 at Goldsmiths if that helps. Comes back looking like new.

Thanx 4 all your replies. I think i will just leave it and get it professionally cleaned. The jeweller said that rodium plated would cost more expensive than a clean and to be honest the yellow gold isnt really even coming through yet so dont think i would see a massive difference.
