White or Ivory?

sherbert, 1 June, 2009 at 11:58 Posted on Planning 0 14

I went to a dress shop and tried on wedding dresses for the first time, and I found one I really like. The lady said the one I had on (which was ivory) suited my colouring but I always thought I would have a white dress. What has everyone gone for? x

I wore white, but my colouring lends itself to it being a white dress. Lady in the shop said that of every 100 dresses she sells only 3 or 4 are white because she doesn't recommend them for lots of skin tones.

Ivory but then it only comes in ivory so wasn't a tough choice for me!

My dress only came in ivory as well.

My skintone would have been OK with white (I'm yellow rather than pink), but thinking back to accessories shopping, I honestly can't recall seeing much in white, so it may have been hard to work with.

My dress is ivory although I did try on a white dress which suited me. I think I can wear either but aparently most dresses sold are ivory as very few people actuall suit white.

You can get lots of shades of ivory and some are really pale that you would think were actually white until they are held against white you realise it isn't.

Also, there is diamond white which is just an off-white so it isn't as bright but not as creamy as ivory if that helps????

    morning ladies,

i was the total opposite! i thought ivory would be the best colour for me but i ended up with a diamond white dress!!

I did try on an ivory dress but claire from the shop (my new best friend hehe) said that i blended in with the dress ?

My cousin has been married twice and she wore ivory at both of her weddings and i just love the colour!! xx

My dress is Diamond White, but to be honest it's just a pale ivory. I've held it against various swatches of 'ivories' and could see very little difference, however held against 'white' theres a marked difference.

I thought mine was really close to white as i expected ivory to be yelloweyer (??!!) but the dress lady showed me white and it looked almost blue if you know what i mean. I couldn't have worn it. Am now worried bout the mens shirts tho.. should they be white or ivory?? Does it matter??

    xx

There are many shades of ivory from strong creamy ivory to palest- mine is pale ivory almost white but not quite, if you know what I mean.
