I don't know if I want to watch this week's episode or not. I'm alone and a scaredy cat.

We're watching it. Good, innit ? (Although, probably not the best time to be eating dinner)

No, it's not Buccan. It's gruesome isn't it? Urgh, guess who's got the organ?

I love it. It is fabulous for a Monday night. Although I have to look away for all the gory bits...

It's great but I'm not finding it that scary. It's not that scary is it? Or am I missing something ?

I love it. I love all the stories about Jack The Ripper. We have been on the Ripper tour twice, its brilliant and the museum. I was looking forward to recognising the areas but we think that they have filmed in different places. That wasnt Mitre Square last night, looked nothing like it imo.

I love Phil Davies and also the big scottish guy with black curly hair.....the one the gaffa first accused of leaking to the press....what was he in before??? He is really familiar...I think he played a cop too.

No it's not scary at all IMO. Having said that, I did gasp at the part last night where the young copper was following the solier and he vanished, I had visions of him being the next victim!

I'm enjoying it but finding it hard to believe RPJ's character.

I wondered last night if it was Phil Davies' character. (But then, why would he send himself the organ ?) Am loving the tension between the two men, and the little twists.

Did they mention last week that the copycat murders were supposed to be happening late 2008 ? Or was there no mention of date/ year ?

I'm another who is loving this drama series!!! Fab stuff!

I think it's the doctor at the hospital who is the murderer... there's something creepy about him and he would probably have the knowledge to be able to slice and dice the victims!! I'm probably completely wrong, but you never know!

My mum reckons the ripper is one of the higher up police officers, the commissioner I think.

I'm with your mum. I think it's the commissioner as he's helping Chandler and said last night along the lines of "don't worry about catching the ripper, just sit behind your desk and wait it out".

It depends on how much they're playing to Ripper lore.

One theory is that it was the Duke of Clarence (as mentioned last night).

Another that it was the royal physician - the guy played by Ian Holm in the film "From Hell" with Johnny Depp.

And at least one other doctor was suspected. I wondered if it was the director of forensic science - they all commented on why he did the lab work.

I'm just loving it - such a simple idea for a program - can't believe it's not been done before.

I was only half watching some of the time - how did the dna get contaminated from the eye?

They didn't say. I presume it probably got mixed with the fluids from the eye so couldn't be used.

I didn't get why the DNA on the eyes was contaminated either. I thought it was pretty disgusting though!

I watched this last night too, I think it's brilliant. My money (same as KB3 and Sunset's mum) is on the high ranking policeman but then I'm torn as I think the forensic lab chap who was mentioned might be a suspect too, I agree that I don't think it's the historian chap but that he's unknowingly being helping the killer. It's gripping - I can't wait for next week!

I'm torn between the Doctor at the hospital and the High Ranking Policeman (the one who was Prince Charles in The Queen)

Am enjoying it, but I don't get the RPJ character, the bit last night where he was handing out sandwiches etc just wouldn't happen in a murder investigation would it? Surely he would be more interested in finding a killer than worrying about his teams eating habits and personal hygene?

Yes it was the museum at Docklands, we went especially for that. I was hoping to see some better physical stuff than what was there but I guess a lot of it has been lost or destroyed. It was good to see the letters close up.

We both took a day off work and travelled down on train from the Midlands, we were both a bit disappointed tbh. If you like the Ripper story then you must go on the tour, I'll get you the link to the best tour as there are several.

https://www.jack-the-ripper-tour.com/ The tour guide is Richard Jones off Most Haunted. Last time we had a different guide who was really good and did a slightly different route therfore it felt like a new tour!
