Who can help with my first stupid leven Q

Gingey Wife, 13 May, 2009 at 14:36 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 8

I'm so behind everyone else I missed all the threads.

JR came on Friday. I fed him and put him in the fridge. I suspect my fridge was too cold so he didn't start to bubble for a good 48hours. I couldnt bake at the weekend so just left him. Do I now have to feed him again and then bake in 2 days time (bake or do the starter?) or can I just do the starter today?

I'd give it a go doing the starter today, baking tomorrow. Mine doesn't do much in the fridge, but bubbles up like a good-un as soon as he's released and fed out of the fridge, and the bread works really well.

I'm sure the doughmeister will come along and say different, but...

As there's not a vast amount left over from your 500g of starter for bread, I tend to feed it again within a day or so, then there's enough of it to make a starter again IYSWIM.

    GW, I feel your pain.

Sadly I think I'm too stupid for it too. I can't find the answers on the website to all of my questions, so I ask, and then piss off the DoughMeister, so I've given up now. He doesn't have much patience with me I'm afraid! (will probably get another ear-bashing now lol) ?

Brit is doing just fine in his over-sized jar in the fridge! I give him a good seeing-to every so often, and that seems to keep him happy ?

I'll bake again when I get a day when I'm actually at home all day .. which is hardly ever!
