Who did you book your honeymoon through?

jen_84, 28 August, 2011 at 22:37 Posted on Planning 0 11

We're just looking at booking our honeymoon. We've had quotes from Kuoni and Thomson so far. Audley and Turquoise have given us ideas but no prices as yet although Audley looks quite expensive from the prices on their website. Thomson is coming out the as the cheapest but we want to make sure our honeymoon is perfect so I was hoping you lovely people might be able to tell me who you've booked with and what your experience has been like so far. Or if you have heard horror stories about a company we'd be interested in those too so we know to avoid!

Thanks in advance.

All our travel and accommodation is booked through Imagine Africa, other than the 3 days inc wedding that is through Zanzibar Weddings.

I suppose it depends where you want to go. We looked at all of the ones you mentioned, but found that co-op travel undercut the cheapest by at least 100quid Smiley smile That's for a top resort in Mexico.

We did want to spend a week doing a safari in Tanzania and then a week at an all inclusive on Zanzibar but that looks to be out of our price range so we're now thinking a weeks safari in Kenya and then a week at an all inclusive on the Mombasa coast.

Have a look at Imagine Africa - or speak to Alastair there, he's been great for us, even rearranging everythign when we had to change the date, adn getting us upgrades. We can't afford a whole week safari (not a private one which we wanted anyway) so we're having 3 nights at the wedding place near Stonetown, 3 nights on the East coast of Zanzibar in a beach villa, then a 4 day, 3 night safari based at Sandrivers Selous (we didn't want to do Serengeti etc due to flying time between locations) before a quick overnight at a boutique hotel in Dar es Salaam before flying home. Only 12 days away but I can't wait!

We booked ours direct through Cosmos... but then again we are only going to portugal! The only reason we booked through Cosmos was because we saved up a load of tesco clubcard vouchers and exchanged them for cosmos vouchers! If we'd have had the choice I would have booked through Thomas Cook though. I always book through them if I can as I find their customer service and the holiday reps to be fab. Suppose it all depends on where you are going though. The only thing I would say is that I would personally book through a bigger travel company... with so many travel companies going bust, you would hate to be on your honeymoon only to find that your travel company has gone bust and you (a) cant get home and (b) have to start paying for accommodation....

We've booked through Trailfinders and they have been great. They have been very helpful for us in putting together our itinarary and suggesting ways of staying in budget. I would definitely recommend them.

We went directly to the cruise company (Hurtigruten) rather than through a travel agent. Worked out about £300 cheaper.

Our daughter also booked through Trailfinders and they've been great so far. They are going in October to Dubai, Bangkok and onto a beach resort in Thailand. They set up an account with Trailfinders for guests to donate if they wished towards their honeymoon which worked really well.

We were going to book through Trailfinders after hearing several rave reviews, but we went in there yesterday to ask about itineraries for Thailand and the man just wittered on about how Bali was better weather and he preferred Bali, and then sent us on our way. We were really disappointed - he wasn't interested in helping us at all. We're now booking everything independently.

Thanks for all the advice! We've ended up booking through Kuoni - they seemed to offer us the best deal for what we wanted and they guy there was really helpful. Just can't wait now!
