Who has seen your dress?

Jessie_bride, 2 July, 2012 at 12:35 Posted on Planning 0 17

Hi everyone,

I've been trying on dresses for a month so far, and I've taken my BMs to the appointments, my Mum has been to all of the appointments and my aunt has been to one. I've been thinking about not taking anyone else except for my Mum with me for any future appointments, and not telling anyone (excpet you hitchers) which dress it is when I choose. Partly, two of my three BMs haven't been helpful (they choose what they like and don't listen to what I want) but also I like the idea of it being a surprise for them on the day, as I think it's part of the fun seeing your friend in her dress. What does everyone think?

I should also add I'm really close to my Mum and she has great taste so she's a helpful MOTB not a hindrance :-)

Thanks!

J x

I took my mum and sister to all of my appointments, and my brother's girlfriend came along to a couple (including the one were I tried on my chosen dress). Haven't even shown a picture to anyone else as I want it to be a surprise, but I have told the other bridesmaids a few details.

It's funny, some people pester you to tell them about it and others are adament they don't want to know anything!

It only took me a week to choose mine, and I ended up going for the 3rd one I tried on. Think the dress was the easiest part for me, as it's the only thing I could choose on my own without having to please anyone else (like h2b and bms!)

My mum and my sister have seen me in my dress and I've told all the ladies at work which one I've chosen (they won't be at the day part and will probably forget by next April anyway). I want it to be a complete surprise to everyone though so no-one is finding out any details....which is really irritating my FMIL but she can't keep a secret and my OH doesn't want her accidentally blabbing something infront of him.

I intend to take my mum only with me for the trying on process, and may even go to a couple of places by myself. I don't actually want anyone else's opinion- as long as I love it that is all that matters! Once I have decided on "the dress" then I am happy for my MOH and other bridesmaid to come and see it with me. I am also hoping to be able to arrange some sort of viewing with my Nan who has terminal cancer and in a hospice and most certainly will not be around for Nov next year Smiley sad

My mum, my best friend (bridesmaid) and my two sons. My eldest son was bizarrely helpful considering that he's only 6. My youngest just wanted to destroy the shops ?

Three of my BMs were with me at the appointment, one has seen the picture, I plan on taking my mum and FMIL to a fitting (FMIL has only sons so I thought it would be nice for herr to have a bit of the dress shopping experience) I also showed my hairdresser a picture because I was too excited!

I took only my mum dress shopping with me, so she has seen it and my CBM has seen the model photo and that's it! Wanted as fewer people as possible seeing it!

I think its personaly choice really, if you want it to just be your Mum then go with that. My Mum and BM (only having one) have seen mine. A friend who lives away and can't make the wedding has seen a photo and that's it. All the girls from work were asking "Ooooh whats it like?" when I'd chosen it but I've not told them a thing, I want it to be a surprise for them, it's difficult when you are excited though to keep it to yourself!

My friend was with me when I first tried it on. I went back a couple of weeks later to try on again and order (on my own) and sent a couple of pics to my mum, sis, oh's sis and my best friend (bridesmaid).

I'll need to take someone with me for the fitting so they can learn to do me up on the day but everyone else can wait until February

My Mum, Aunty, both sister in laws, mother in law and 2 friends have seen my dress. Only my Mum, Aunty & one of my friends has seen it in the flesh though. Everyone else has just seen a picture on my iPhone - they'll have forgotten what it looks like by the time of the wedding and it'll look completely different on me anyway. The picture was on a really skinny girl!

    xx
