I'm not. I don't really know WHY I'm not, I just don't like the idea, my twin Daughters think I should but I don't think I'll bow to peer pressure!

    Are you?

I think I will be having a "blush" over my face, I do like to see it as I think it looks so romantic.. but I havent tried it on with the dress yet so may not even look right but thats my plan anyway..

They don't cover your face though because the veil is so sheer.

I did wear one, never consider not because for me they completed my bridal look and without a veil I would have felt as if something was missing. My veil was lifted before the vows started.

I suppose it might be nice to not see your eyes until you're there, in front of your OH...

I wasnt thinking of having one, considered it more churchy, but when someone put one on me when i was wearing my dress it just completed the 'bride' feeling! I dont see the point in it if its not over the face really it would just be a big decoration.

I like the idea of OH not fully being able to see me when I am walking down the aisle, and lifting it off my face when I reach him to 'reveal' me and marry me!

Arnold I agree, don't see the point in wearing them without them being over the face.

My H didn't lift it but only because I hadn't thought about it and at the end of the aisle my bm did it in between me nearly fainting!

I was wondering how he will know to lift it, as I dont want him to know I'm wearing one, but at the same time dont want him to A) not lift it, or B) lift it all wrongly so it sits silly on my head! Was thinking of getting the registrar to say 'you may lift the veil' and then BM can arrange it nicely once he's lifted it from my face

I am thinking of wearing one.

Why? Because I am a bit ugly.

I'm wearing a birdcage and intend to wear it all day. It comes down to my nose. Why? Just because I think it compliments my dress and whole look.

Lynseydesigns, your veil is very sheer & lovely. Have only tried 1 over the face & am sure it was thicker than your one, hence wasnt too keen to wear one. Hhhmm, I may have to rethink now. Thanks everyone.

I'm wearing one because I like the way it looks that's it. No symbolism no BS, I just like the way it looks.

I wore one and over my face as my husbands parents are preists and as we wernt having a religious ceremony as we personally arent religious I thought it would be nice to keep some traditions as it turned out I loved wearing it, it was lifted over my head when I reached my husband by my dad Smiley laugh

I'm having a veil, and yes it will cover my face - why? Because I've got a face like a bashed crab.

I would love a veil but wouldn't want to give everyone a shock when it is lifted !!!!!!!! lol I will be 45 by then and covering sounds fab but not the unveiling ! I don't think it is appropriate for me as I am a mother of three and divorced so hardly a vestal virgin but I do think they look lovely and you will never get to wear one again.

I am wearing one, and covering my face with it. No real reason, just wanted to wear one and wanted the "lifting of the veil moment" once I have walked up the aisle. Although I have an image in my head of my husband lifting it up in order to kiss me when the registrar says "you may now kiss the bride"... I don't know why, that must surely be wrong?

I am wearing a veil but i will not be covering my face with the blush. My sister got married in a church and she did cover her face with the blush part then when our dad got her to her hubby, my dad lifted her veil. I just associate the coving of the face with the blush as being very churchly. As i am having a civil ceremony i wont be doing it.

That is what happens if you are fully following tradition, you stay covered for the whole ceremony until it is time for the kiss.

    Ahhh okay.

See now I can't decide... I like the idea of lifting it at the end, but I also like the idea of lifting it before and looking at each other without anything in the way when we say our vows! If it didn't look weird I'd be tempted to pull the blush back over my face after the vows but before the kiss.

Hmm... maybe I could sneakily pull it back over just after we sign the register? Does signing the register come before the kiss? I've confused myself now...

I'm older than you and also have three "children". I had the same concerns as you, but everyone I have asked has said a big YES to wearing a veil (I made my own as didn't want to spend a lot on something if I daren't wear it) and it made me feel really bridal. So I say carry on with a veil and never mind about your age!

I'm having a veil and the blusher over my face. My dad will walk me up the aisle, lift up the blusher and give me a quick peck on the cheek before he hands me over I think. I just like it, nothing to do with it being in a church, I just like it that way.

A friends dad lifted it to give her a kiss then put it back over her face, the BM scrambled over and lift it back up again. Much to her horror the priest said no put it back down...we're definitely going to practice everything I don't want anything like that to happen on the day!
