Who is making their Order Of Service?

2013_Bride_, 28 June, 2013 at 11:05 Posted on Planning 0 7

And how are you doing it?

I would like to do it myself to save £100 but I really don't know where to start.

I.e. how I make a template so that I can write in it and then it will print in a fold-able format etc if that makes sense!

Anyone have any advice - I have Microsoft 2011 and can't see any templates in Word etc.

Do you want card for the 'covers' of them or do you just want them paper? If you are going for card you can either A4 card and fold it yourself, or an A5 pre folded card blank, then add sheets of paper inside.

I did the last ones I made in Word. I didn't have a template - just set to landscape and positioned the two pages by eye. These were the inner pages (2/3) then the next page I printed as 1/4 - IYSWIM. I then printed these double sided, folded, then stuck inside the A5 card blank. I seem to remember the way my (work!) printer did them the second page was flipped upside down, so I think I ended up printing two sheets then photocopying them double sided to make it the right way up.

I managed it with a lot of trial and error on Word 2007. When you select print, go to properties and select booklet printing. It then gives you the options of printing from left or right etc and paper sizes. I managed this way to print an A5 booklet. I got fed up at the printing stage cus I couldn't find anyone with a printer that would take thicker paper so H2B's uncle stepped in and is printing them for us. (He is a printer - god knows why he didn't offer before we paid to have our table plan etc printed!!!).

If that doesn't work, I would get on good old google. I think I googled 'how to print a booklet from word' and those were the instructions it gave me.

    Good luck.

Do you have Publisher or can you download a trial version for free? If so, you simply set the page size to A5, create pages in multiples of four and print as a booklet on a double sided printer.

If not and you want a 4page A5 booklet but don't want to faff with Word settings:

A4 Word doc set to landscape.

The right hand side will be the front cover, the left hand side the back cover.

Use text boxes to place your text.

    Print.

Use a separate word doc for the inside pages

For the inside: left will be the left and right will be the right - use text boxes again.

Re-feed cover pages through the printer the other way round.

    Fold.

Yep, I did my own. I actually set them in word first, but then I reset them in a free trial of Adobe Illustrator and saved them down as PDF's and had them printed at KallKwik. But you could totally do them yourself in Word. Boggled my brain setting it up!

If it prints out wrong, then go into your printer settings and you will probably see an option called something like 'print duplex' - you want them to print duplex, i,e printed on both sides. You should also set it to print left to right which should be a command near the duplex option! If that doesnt work, try swtiching left to right to top to bottom.

Shall i PM it to you? It has all my personal details on it but I do not mind sending it to you directly :-)

If you go to page layout in Word and pick the bookfold option then you just type in what you want and it will print it out landscape with the four pages in the right order for a booklet.
