Who walks up the aisle?

Bridget Gump, 6 May, 2009 at 22:00 Posted on Planning 0 8

I know this is something I don't need to worry about yet, but it was something that occurred to me earlier today when talking to a brideslave.

I know me and dad walk in last after the BMs, but that's about it! is anyone else supposed to walk up the aisle? mums? ushers?

TIA!

Well depending on how ur church is built everyoneeeeeeee needs to walk up the aisle to get their seats...lol

you should have an usher to escort your mother to her seat - down the aisle on her arrival to the church....

I'm having cbm followed by flower girls then me and me dad.... and thats it i think.

My mum will already be in there fussing and my h2b and bestman will be waiting at front. Hope the usher will hang a round towards back in case anyone turns up late. Quite likely as some folk are coming quite a long way... thinking he might have to press play in cd player too!!

Oh, we appear to be doing it the other way round. we had our rehearsal today and the Rev. put us Father and Bride, Pageboys, followed by Bridesmaids. I guess it depends on the church/ceremony/registry office?

When my mum got married last summer the vicar had my mum & brother (who gave her away) go 1st & the 4 of us bridesmaids followed. Trouble with that is that we stood up for about 20 minutes in the aisle & no-one could see the bride and groom past us! I want the to have flower girl & page boy, followed by bridesmaid then me. Luckily we've a raised platform that the ceremony is taking place on so everyone will be able to see us (& not just the backs of the bridesmaids!).

Not sure if I've got this right but I always thought that it's tradition in the UK for the bridesmaids to go down the aisle after the bride, but in America its the other way round. x

My brother, who was an usher, walked with my mum down the aisle but not in a big deal way! Dad and I walked in ahead of my 3 BMs. Yes, the UK tradition is for the BMs to follow but it's really up to you.

Im sending the little flower girls in first then me and my dad and possibly my mum as they are divorced and cant decide who to ask. My little boy is our page boy and he will be at the front with his dad and the best man where his grandma can keep an eye on him or he wll probably hoop down the aisle whilst singing at the top of his lungs knowing my darling boy ( he cant do anything slowly )
