Who was a Brownie?

I was, don't think we had groups though.

Oooh, I was! I was an Imp, and I was the sixer - why were the leaders called "Sixers"?

I was also a Pixie!! Clearly the best group to be in!

I was! I really cant remember which group I was in though. I was even a guide until I realised it wasn't cool

We had pixies, elves, sprites and another but I forget the name .... I LOVED Brownies and would have loved to have joined the GG but my Mother wouldn't let me

I was a Guide too. I really enjoyed it, but never told anyone because I was ashamed. One day, a girl I went to school with joined and I said "under no circumstances do you mention that I go to guides during school time." ... One lunch time she came up to me and said "Are you going to guides tonight?" I quit that day.

same here!! sixers were so called cos there was 6 in a group no?

We used to be so naughty our 6, wed use hairspray to light our campfires?

Me too! I used to say I was going somewhere else. I used to really enjoy it when I was younger, but when I went to secondary school and started seeing the big bad world more, I realised I was way too cool to be building campfires and having good wholesome fun!

Oh and who can remember, I promise to do my best, to do my duty to God and the Queen and to help other people every day, especially those at home! Altogether now..."We're the Brownies here's our aim, lend a hand and play the game!"

Think I was a pixie but I can't really remember.

I was a Brownie at 6months old as my Mum was a brown owl and used to take me to meetings. She even knitted me a uniform! Will have to dig out a picture.

When I was old enough to be a 'proper' brownie I was Sixer of the Leprechauns.

I was a Brownie but a naughty one! I rarely went to church parade (and when I did I just used to sit their eating Polos) and when we went to camp, we used to take Judy Blume books with us and while they were reading books like Superfudge, I was reading about Tony having a shuffle over his neighbour in Then Again Maybe I Won't.

I was also a Guide, didn't seem at all not cool at the time though?! I was from a small village, we all went to Guides, weren't ashamed!

I was a brownie for two weeks!! The girls I was with we're horrible and I hated it!!

Yeah when you start, but this was my last camp before Guides. Everyone at school was reading all her books at that age!

I was a Brownie! I think I was also in Pixie ? I managed to become a Sixer and everyfink...I was a Patrol leader at guides too. Although because I was always very tall and big for my age (and apparently quite mature?!), I always had to do quite grown up jobs...like emptying the camping loos at Camp ?

I did actually consider becoming a Ranger. But then all my friends used to go to the Ice Arena every Friday night and I didn't want to miss out so I never went that far!

I was an elf! I was the deputy, cant remember the name of this, but then a sixer later on.

i was a guide for a while..got told i woudlnt last very long being a patrol leader if i carried on snogging scouts at camp..

needless to say i didnt stop snogging scouts at camp and ended my guiding career ?

I was a Brownie but only so I could go the the Xmas party! I left after that, not really in the true spirit of being a Brownie

I was a brownie and then a guide. I joined the Brownies then my mum became Brown Owl of a new pack so I transferred to hers and became Sixer of the Leprechauns as I was the only experienced Brownie. Then mum became the district commissioner so we were totally immersed. Joined the guides and was patrol leader of the Kingfishers.

This was in Ireland - where brownies wear blue uniforms with yellow neckerchiefs for some reason - so I'll need to look up the Irish Brownie promise as we definitely were not swearing allegiance to the Queen.

From what a few of you have said, the Brownie promise has changed a bit over the years - I'm going back a long way since I was a Brownie ? Did they stop dancing around the toadstool too? I had a thing about the toadstool. I always wanted to take it home. You know when you're little and your imagination runs away with stuff, I thought if I took it home (which I would never have been able to carry as it was almost as big as me) it had secret Brownie powers!

We swore to the queen. I was a pixie I think. Ours was run by the catholic nuns in our local convent. Twas ace.

Never stuck at brownies or guides, was only a member for a short while.
